I have seen many posts about the new update that has come across most of people's trucks that have the 12" screen, but I have been wondering, as someone coming from a 8" UC4 (12" UC5 now), will I ever get an update past what was on the device before I bought it? If not, is there a way to get that firmware from outside of the dealership, and would they even give me the upgrade if I asked for it?

Not true. I swapped from the 8.4 and I still received ota updates on my 12.1 in my 2022.
He upgraded from a UC4 system to the UC5 system. Updates are tied to your VIN. His VIN shows that he has a 8.4" UC4. How should he get OTA updates for his UC5 System?

Maybe I’m wrong in assuming they would come through. My vin has my 8.4 tied to it but I continue to get updates after swapping to the 12.1 and this definitely are not the same updates that the 8” would receive. I apologize that I am wrong, mine must be a fluke then. Sorry for the misinformation.
