we have all seen many purchase invoices with the sales TAX added on. this am i decided to do some numbers on sale tax for a NEW vehicle. as most of the forum members know, @Jared B .,@BobbiBigWheels , and myself @mikemcfarland all live in canada, beautiful British Columbia. (or B.C. for - bring cash). knowing how bad we have it-tax wise -i did some calculations. Keep in mind the canadian dollar is at .77 cents to the u.s. dollar. here we go.....

M.S.R.P. U.S.A. bare bones limited ram. $55,235.00
1) california tax - $4142.00
2) new york tax - $4401.00

M.S.R.P. CANADA. bare bones limited ram. $72,735.00
1)alberta- our neighbouring province.( for the guys down south-neighbouring state) $3637.00
2)B.C. (where we live) $10,911.00

im not 100% sure on the u.s. tax numbers - but you get the point.

so why did @Jared B create this site? ... a prelude to a "GO FUND ME" site will sure to follow. :D.

:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: Yeah our taxes and prices up here for everything are nuts. That said I am actually on my way next month to look at properties outside of B.C. I'm less worried about a 100k truck than I am about having to drop $1,000,000 for a house.

what part of the world are u looking at?

To the Prairies, I should still be able to find a job that pays similar to mine, but with 1/3 the housing costs on top of all the other money saved everywhere else. Vancouver reminds me of the times I've been in L.A now, constant traffic, everything is crazy busy. Not the kind of life for me. That said even if I move before I pull the trigger on my truck I'll still come back and buy it from @BobbiBigWheels and have a nice long roadtrip home.

“Go fund me”:ROFLMAO: love it! Wow guys, good luck up North!

I was very fortunate, with the value of my two trades that were paid for and the employee discount I really didn’t pay a lot of difference. Fortunately here in Indiana, we only pay sales tax on the difference, so having a good trade value is very beneficial. That is one reason I traded instead of selling outright. I would have had to have gotten several thousand dollars more for my trades selling them outright to make up for the tax incentive.

Thankfully it is the same up here too.
