*All prices in Canadian*

Another oil thread, oh no!!! But really, I have narrowed it down to a few choices and I just wanted input on which one would be the best oil for the money. The prices are all over the place right now because oil is on sale and suggestions would be nice out of all the oil I have listed. REDLINE oil is not available in Canada for a reasonable price, about $100 for 5QT and no way I am spending $200 on oil.

I had 13 oil changes at the dealership through an oil package I purchased, they were using Pennzoil Platinum 0w20. No lifter noise and 102,000km on my truck right now. I know I am saving money doing my own oil changes (about $150 after tax at Dealer and Jiffy Lube) so any oil I get it still going to be a savings for me. Cheap synthetic will just save me more, then the more expensive ones, but the question is DO I NEED THE MOST EXPENSIVE OR BEST OIL?

I just ordered the Pacbrake Remote Oil filter kit, If I am doing 10+ oil changes as I plan on keeping the truck for 5 years or so then I want the oil change to be a easy as possible. I even ordered the Futmoto valve (F106SX) as I had one on my previous truck and LOVED it. I wanted this to be clean as possible when doing them, and I think with the filter locations and multiple threads about how its messy I just decide to go this route, I was going to try my first one with ziplock bags but I know I will probably still make a mess.

I also purchased 2 of the Fram X2 oil filters since I am installing the Pacbrake kit. Man this oil filter is way bigger then stock!!!

So the oils
- Pennzoil Platinum currently only sale for $38.99 (from $52.99) plus a $20 pre-paid credit card. Effectively making the oil $28.00 each 5QT jug.
- Pennzoil Ultra $57.99 (no sale) plus a $30 pre-paid credit card. Effectively making each 5QT jug $42.99
- Royal Purple $59.99 (from $72.99) no pre-paid credit card as that is a Pennzoil special rebate.
- Mobil 1 $52 to $58 depending on type of synthetic makeup. (use to use this for my bikes)

Should I stick with 0w20 or use 5w20?

So with all that in mind, is Royal Purple (which I know is highly regarded) worth paying $60 each instead of say Pennzoil Platinum at $28 each after the $20 pre-paid credit card or even the Ultra at $43 after getting a pre-paid credit card. I know they have been putting the Platinum in my truck, and I could stick with that but just wanted some thoughts on the other oils I mentioned. If they are outstanding compared to the Platinum then I am willing to pay, but only if it's really justified and will be significantly better in the long run.

In my 05 5.7 Durango and 2013 qc Ram 1500 5.7 always used Penz Ultra Platnium, with 8 oz of Lubeguard Boitech, they also sell same stuff for cheaper in different packaging called lubeguard heavy duty. The hemi likes higher moly levels in oil. For long time only using Puraltor boss 20k oil filters, never had any type of engine noise or tick that wasn't normal. But here difference is not much, pen plat is like $23 for 5 qt and penz ultra platnium is like $26, when only sale. Using the same in my 5th gen 5.7 Ram also.
