Where is everyone buying their Wheels/Tires???

Hey all, I was interested to see where everyone was ordering their wheel and tire packagers? In store, or online? What websites vs what stores? How was customer service? Did you have any issues?

im beginning to dig into the rabbit hole that is wheels and tires, hoping to place an order here soon and just wanted to see what everyone liked about their experiences.

I’m a discount tire guy. I’ve been buying my wheels and tires through them for 13-14 years. I actually just recently went the route of buying wheels online, then buying tires from a different place and having them mount them up. It was a pain in the but and the savings were minimal. If you by the package through them they warranty everything, do free rotations etc. Easy

We bought wheels and tires from our local Les Schwab tire store. They were great (as always), and were willing to match online prices. I would recommend checking with them if you live in an area that has a Les Schwab store.

I too am a DT guy... They will match any price on wheel or tires you find on line.. I just bought my new fuel wheels and nitto tires from them last week and had researched pricing that they matched. Great customer service and being local, I prefer to purchase for service after the sale..

Discount Tire is great, and since they are in every state I happen to drive in, it's very convenient as well. I have had my wheel/tires rebalanced several times while on a trip out of state. I also get the tire insurance, and that has paid off most times as well.

I have always bought all my tires from Discount Tire, this was the route I had more or less planned to go, but wasn’t sure if anyone had any success with online retailers. DT is tried and true, always great service!

I have used DT a number of times through the years, with good results (other than the one closest to my home couldn't get my Challenger on their alignment rack). This time around I ordered online from Tire Rack. Tires mounted and balanced, with TPMS, 2 year road hazard, will be shipped to my door. They even called me before processing my order to confirm whether I knew the tires I ordered were larger than stock. Hopefully when they arrive I will continue to be pleased.

I also vote for discount tire. I got Atturo Trail Blades XT because I really liked the look and price but I could not stand the noise. They took them back even after I drove around 300 miles on them without any questions. They also matched online price of Nitto Grappler which saved me $50/tire over their price (which was already fair tbh). Plus they are everywhere, rotation is free with the tire purchase etc. It just was no brainer to go with them.

I just bought goodyear wrangler ultraterrains from them. I mentioned I was a little concerned about road noise because of how aggressive they looked. He said I had 30 days to try them out and if I didn't like them I could bring them back. You can't beat that.

The only good point about buying tires online is if you can find someone form other state who will not charge your tax.. depends on where you live though

That, and the fact that rather than taking my truck somewhere and waiting for the job to be done, I can have them delivered to my house and put them on myself. An hour or two spent playing with my truck in the garage is fantastic therapy

Local shop. Always beats online retailers by at least $300, my new setup from them was $2300 or so, custom wheel offset wanted $2600 for same setup.

I always take my new vehicles there and purchase the road hazard protection a few days after I drive off the lot. They will sell you this even if you did not buy the tires from them.
Very handy since they have a presence pretty much everywhere (specially when traveling).

Paid $218 for the set, including lifetime balancing. Can’t beat this.

well I kept factory wheels so I needed tire shop anyway do you sync TPMS sensors your self? easy job?

Those ultra terrain are really good tires. They are made specifically for DT and I had a set that lasted 40k miles on an f150. Love the ride and much quieter than duratracks.

Also DT will do trade ins on your factory take off tires only. I just bought new wheels and tires and they gave me $450 for duratracks on trade. 2k miles on mine so I thought that was a fair deal.

As mentioned many times already, Discount Tire / American Tire always. They will price match and are on another level of professionalism compared to other shops. I made the mistake of trying to save $30 on a set of cheap tires that only Evans Tires could go that low (DT didn't carry that brand), but shocked at the level of unprofessionalism of the people working there.

Plus, Discount offers a lifetime rotate & balance & road hazard warranty for tires you didn't even buy there. Just as long as they are pretty new, you can get that package. I only paid $120 for the package to cover our Rebel. Just a single tire replacement is double what that package costs! I then added it to our new Toyota C-HR, again a bargain. Especially when you consider that the dealer charges $40 to rotate tires and doesn't even bother to balance them. The freedom to know if you damage a tire beyond repair, they will replace it for free is amazing for such a low cost.
