Calling all old school wax-er's,

Today I decided to wax my red car, I usually try to do my vehicles once a year with a liquid wax letting it haze and then buffing it off by hand. This is after removing oxidation or contaminates using a porter cable buffer or using turtlewax colorback and clay-barring the paint. So far I have not waxed the Ram, I have only been using detail spray wax.

Over 20 years, I have been using and testing different waxes on my cars and bikes/motorcycles. And let me get this off my chest, I'm not a fan of (PPF)! Does someone buy a new corvette or motorcycle and get the entire thing ppf, if so how do they wax it every weekend? Can you wax PPF? In my twenties after catching the bus for many years, I saved enough money working at Wendy's to buy my 1992 Ford probe with pop-up headlights which had light surface rust. My stepdad introduced me to turtlewax colorback, this stuff removes light surface rust such as the brown streaks you see on white work vans. I kept that Probe looking clean for years, and felt cool like the corvette owners because I had pop-up headlights too.

After learning about colorback, I found about master formula products at the Detroit International motorcycle show, and then soon after Meguiar's NXT wax. Many years later, I tried chemical guys, 3m products, zymol, pink wax, cosmoline insulator wax and turtlewax color wax, and many others. Most of my vehicles are from the 90's/ early 2000 era. On my red car, I use red color wax from turtlewax followed by Meguiar's NXT and found this to be my favorite combination. Next master formula's sealer and polish I feel is on par with nxt but I have been using these mainly on my motorcycles.

My favorites and go to items based on ease of use and best shine are...
1. turtlewax colorback
2. turtlewax color wax
3. Meguiar's NXT wax
4. Master Formula's products.

And my favorite detail spray is....
1. Mother's California Gold Instant Detail Spray.

As well I was reading that someone said they applied cosmoline insulator wax to their windshield? Can you apply wax to a windshield? I just use invisible glass cleaner or similar.

Every vehicle and equipment paint quality is different and I'm no expert at this stuff and keep my stuff forever; my eclipse has 131,000 miles and my wife's convertible has 37,000 miles both with original paint at 27 years old.

So what's your favorite wax or detail spray you use on your cars, bikes, farm tractors, semi-trucks, boat,
Ram or anything...ect?

And pictures too please.. John Deer or Farmall tractors pictures; any pictures of your shiny equipment, thanks.

Well. I have abandoned wax and now use Ceramic (CarPro). My first vehicle was my 35 foot long motorhome. Took me a week to completely prep and then ceramic coat the entire thing. But 2 years later, the paint still looked amazing, and shed water. Sorry, I don't have pics of the motorhome, but ceramic makes ANY wax look dull by comparison.
I am now planning to apply ceramic coating to my one month old Ram 1500. Since the paint is new and the truck is MUCH smaller than my motorhome, it won't take that long.
For occasional cleanup I use CarPro waterless detailer.

Back when I actually used to keep my 1999 Dakota R/T looking pristine Zaino Bros was the stuff I used and got great results from. Clay bar and use the scratch and swirl remover, then the polish. Would only need to reapply about every 6 months. Between applications, just use the Zaino car wash and the Z6 gloss enhancer as detail spray.

Then I got married, had kids, and got lazy with paint protection. Still washed my vehicles regularly, just didn't polish them and keep them up as well. Last two vehicles, 2005 Magnum R/T I got used, and my current 2020 RAM were both ceramic coated. Easy to maintain. And water just beads off.

As far as polish on windshield, yesz absolutely. That's all Rain-X is.

As for detailing spray, I use special stuff in my Ram from detail shop that did my ceramic coating. Otherwise, I love the Lucas Oil Slick Mist. I've like Meguiar's products and their Ceramic Hybrid Wax spray is my current favourite. Easy on, easy off. Best part is it dries clear so no worry of white residue on rubber around windows or trim, etc. Easiest product I've used that lasts a few months.

Zaino has been my go to for a few years. I've tried other stuff from Chemical Guys and other hyped up brands, but always came back to Zaino. Easy on , easy off, and the results last a long time even with regular washes. The key is using either the gloss enhancer or even the quick detail spray after each wash, like you mentioned.

I'll probably have someone come do a nice paint correction and ceramic coating on both our vehicles in the near future, as i'm currently in the "lazy with paint protection" stage of life thanks to the previous two stages.

I used to use Zaino but seems much more labor intensive than a good ceramic coating. I applied UndrDog Pro to my '23 and couldn't be happier.

Only the initial application is labor intensive, and you have to do the same thing with ceramic coating. After that, follow up applications are as simple as wipe on, wipe off. You also have to continue with "maintenance" on ceramic coatings to keep them working
