I would like to remove the side chrome piece that's on the limited, not sure what it's actually called. Is it stuck on with adhesive can I take it to a shop and have it removed or is it easier to just wrap it?

Thanks, and will it look like the other models after that? it was just an add-on right?

As far as I know it's just double sided tape holding it on. None of the other models have it so I doubt they would have holes behind it on the Limited.

we are talking bout the chrome piece that goes across both doors correct? So it is not bolted on or anything. Just plain old too sided?

Yes, it's just double sided adhesive.

As mentioned, warm it up, and I personally use fishing line. Much stronger than dental floss.

All 8 pieces of the chrome door bumpers come off easily, as does the remaining adhesive. For whatever reason, I worked harder on the small limited and 4x4 tailgate badges than those door strips. The adhesive for the strips was far easier to remove.

If you get it off without damaging it I will buy them.

I used fishing line. Worked like a charm.

I then removed the remaining adhesive from the paint with an eraser wheel and a drill. I strongly advise ordering this if you don’t want to spend hours on this task. You can pick one up @ AMZ for around $15

Be forewarned that the paint may be slightly marred from the high-adhesive tape. Mine was, and had to machine polish to remove the dull paint. It’s still not 100% but it’s low enough where you really can’t see it (I did not want to remove too much clear).

Cheers,

You did a good job on the removal since thats what you wanted.
I like mine in the tri-coat ivory and it may keep some door dings off, maybe.

I'm thinking about having mine vinyl wrapped to color match the truck. Then I won't have to worry about paint correction from the adhesive afterwards.

Great idea. Post pics if you get this done.

You could remove the factory chrome moldings and sell them to someone who wants chrome and then buy the Paint Color matched Moldings from Sport Wing: https://www.sportwing.com/Body-Side-Moldings . They are very high quality and the paint match is perfect.

Ya but I have the limited which has that dinky little piece on the truck bed too. Suppose I could probably remove that piece.

Noticed that also. It's only two pieces. Just remove the smaller piece and call it a day.
