What the heck is this?!?!

Are these the same genius that are going to download, process, and interpret all this clandestine data ?
I bought mine from a volume dealer that tries to increase their profits by adding LoJack style systems, seat treatment, and nitrogen filled tires (pre-installed before you get there). Unfortunately for them I don't buy into that load of crap. i doubt they would even know how to use the data. Couldn't even cash my deposit check on the right day.

I was told by my dealer that they install Lojack on all their vehicles in case they are stolen off the lot. they did try to get me to pay for it...no way!

These things must be everywhere. Reading someone else's RAM-related post:

Removed faulty GPS Kahu unit installed by the dealer but I did not activate. Was causing battery draw.

Kahu is another flavor of GPS tracker providers. Most bizarre, but nevertheless interesting:

FWIW, all of them do indeed draw current and will eventually bring the battery voltage down. IDK if any of them are smart enough to shut off at a certain minimum voltage.

I looked at the installation docs for this example Goldstar GPS tracker they (Kahu/Spireon) use and the inputs are +12v, Gnd, ignition sense. Soo, the only way "mileage" can be extrapolated from these units to the dealership software is...

wait for it...

wait for it...

GPS tracking of your trips and aggregating the miles by whomever is collecting the data.

It cannot pull odometer info out of the CAN bus/OBD, in fact this one is not installed on the OBD port.
