I took off the lower drivers side panel to access the fuse box, and noticed this. Didn’t realize that there was something behind those slots. Any idea what it is?

Happens sometimes.
I know when I hooked my truck up to a scanner I saw a TON of air sensors and some were labeled something like driver feet and passenger feat.

As others have replied, it is the interior air temperature sensor with a small fan to draw air in across the thermocouple.
