Water leak front driver's side

I kept getting a musty old sock smell on hot days recently. It happens quite frequently after a long rainfall. So I figured there might be a leak.

I pulled up the carpet and found wet padding on the driver's side foot well. Not too much and only on the edge closest to the door. I ran water with a hose down that corner of the windshield and didn't see anything come in. AC and Cowl drains are ok. I checked the other side for water and found nothing. Anybody have a front driver's side leak?

The wet padding smelled stale but not like an old sweaty sock. I fear there's more than one leak. From what I could reach under the rear carpet it was dry. I'm going to remove the rear seats and perform a more detailed inspection. I know the 3rd brake light is a common leak.

Please provide your truck details, including year, cab configuration, trim level, and build date if possible. There were issues with 2019 models, but those seemed to have been ironed out.

2020 crew cab. Big Horn. 5.7

I had read the 3rd brake was not updated until sometime in the middle of the 2020 models. My manufacturer date is 11/19.

A friend had a similar problem. There was a some type of unplugged hole in the wheel well area letting water in.

Would that be a hole accessible from the interior?

I did find a grommet that wasn't plugged in the engine compartment. But I had water under the carpet without having been in any rain. So I don't know what it Is at this point. But, guarantee this will be repair number 1 of 3. Once I hit 3, I may or may not start the lemon law process. I really like the truck, but if it's going to be nothing but constant worries of things going wrong, I can't do it. I'm paranoid now about water getting into the cab anytime I wash the truck or it rains lol

There have been quite a few threads in the past three years detailing the issues you guys are describing. It might help you to spend some time and see if you can find those threads. Some of them have helpful information but many do not. I'll try to set aside some time tonight if I can, but it might take a while to find anything helpful. In the meantime you should work with your dealers to see if you can find the source of the leaks, especially if you're still under warranty.

I searched for a while, couldn’t really find any pertaining the a leak just under the front passenger carpets. Plenty about the third brake light, sunroof drains, etc.

You'd probably need to go back a year or more. There's a lot of activity in this forum, and threads quickly get buried.

I found the thread about the front fender seam seal. There's a tsb on it.

I'm not taking it to the dealer. They are horrible. Ramcares is pretty useless as well.

I did it by search. I saw the thread about the fender leak. That didn’t appear to be my issue either. I’m having water in the cab WITHOUT having been in any rain or washing the truck. I dried the carpets out real well before checking again, and they were wet once more. Has to be something with my AC drain.

That would be my guess as well. Without exposing it to water, either rain or car wash, it could only be one of two things, engine coolant or condensate from the AC system. Since coolant has a distinct odor, it stands to reason it's an issue with the AC drain like you said.

I'm thinking maybe when I pushed the pipe brush into the drain, maybe if there was actually something in there I just pushed it further back in there. It's definitely water under the carpets. No odor of any kind. Dropping it off tomorrow. Hopefully, it's an easy fix for them. I still love the truck lol.

Further update. I traced the leak to coming from under the black rubber thing behind the pedals. Specifically the far left side under the dead pedal area. I believe it's the windshield. The odd part is it doesn't leak hardly at all when parked even with torrential rain. The water comes in when you start to drive after a heavy rain.

Anybody have a similar leak?
