I have a 2022 Ram 1500 Laramie 5.7. I had the battery out for about a month while I put a new motor in it. Now it is running and the washer fluid light is on even though it's full.
I know from research that Rain X is bad. I have seen a bunch of posts but none that explain the sensor being brand new. I replaced the sensor with a brand new one but the light is still on. The washer pump works though.

I disconnected battery again and touch negative and positive cables together to drain capacitors but the light is still on.

Is there something I'm missing? New sensor is not corroded and should not care immediately what fluid is in there.

Time for basic electrical troubleshooting:
Ohm out the sensor.
Check the plug to see if you have voltage/ground.
Trace the wires back to make sure they aren't cut or disconnected.

I'd question this. I have been using Rain X washer fluid in all my cars/trucks for like 20 years or more. The only vehicle I ever had with a washer fluid indicator light problem was a 09 Chrysler Town and Country. When I pulled the old sensor out it was covered with a gelatin like goop. I cleaned it off and threw it back in and everything was good to go. I had a new one just in case and I returned it a couple of days later. My daughter drove the Town & Country for another 5 or 6 years and never had a problem.

I'm not saying that Rain X can't cause issues however my long term experiences do not indicate that it does.

*Knock on wood...... Never an issue and the only fluid I've been using for years.

Yeah that's my next course of action. Just kinda dumbfounded that it would be doing this when it was fine before having the battery disconnected for so long.
When I disconnected battery again and drained all capacitors the light didn't come back on until a couple miles down the road.

Probably something to do with the engine replacement.
Look for a loose or unconnected ground.
