Vibration at 1500-2000 RPM

Ram2022 with 3.92, stopping at Ram Dealer/Repair almost every month to fix this fine vibration issue. It is hard to ignore this vibration when in 4 Auto, Looks like Ram knows about the issue but do not want to fix, They call it is normal behavior.

My friend has 3.21 ratio and there is no vibration. Any one got it fixed? let us know.

Has anyone gotten anywhere with this issue either fixing it themselves or through the dealerships?

I have a 2023 limited that has done this since day 1. I have brought it up to the dealership every single time it has gone in for routine service and they say they can't reproduce. Such a joke. I have owned a 2012, 2015, 2019, and now this 2023. This is the only one that does it and it's always in the 1500 to 2000 range.

I have modded my truck with no success at rectifying the issue. Swapped the exhaust to a gt exhaust, intake, pulsar xt to use mds deletelifted, New tires, New sway bars and end links (front and back)... doesn't matter it always vibrates in the pedal and wheel slightly. This is my only con with this truck and it's so frustrating.

It has to be drivetrain related. It's the only thing I haven't adjusted or swapped. Can't believe ram just ignores this.

Sounds similar to my issue. The dealer finally replaced the front wheel bearings and that resolved my issues, it was back to showroom smooth after that. The bearings did not make any noise or appear defective, but they were….

That's really interesting. Really appreciate the response too. I will bring this up. There want a service code or anything they mentioned was there? Or like a bulletin?

Also, has anyone looked into the Passive vs /active mass tuning modules? They are on our build sheets and are the little metal things attached to our frames by the running board mounts. Fancy way of saying we needed something to stop this from rattling too much, but gotta wonder if it's not some weird engine rpm vibration sync too.

Any one find something ? Same **** 2024 5.7l 3.92

G’day all, registered an account just to join this chat as I think we are on to something. 2023 Ram Rebel with the etorque and, I think more importantly, 3.92 ratio as standard.
I drive the truck about once a week and this vibration/him/buzz is immediately noticeable. 1500 -2000 rpm, peaking at the high end of the range. Silky smooth outside of that RPM range and when you take your foot off the gas. Gear or speed is irrelevant. It feels like the engine is labouring, like when you drive a manual and select 5 instead of 3 so I align with the comments around the transmission shifting too early. Slightly worse in cold weather. Cruising around 100km/h in 8th is around 2000rpm, you will feel it when you need to accelerate slightly for a hill or pass. If you manually switch down to 7th, or just give it the beans, you are back to silky smooth heaven. Until it shifts up again at least.
Took it to the dealer and gave him this description. Told him it was on the drivetrain and not tires, suspension or wheel bearing. So he replaced a wheel bearing under warranty and charged me $200 for an alignment.
It fixed nothing.

Same issue here. 2023 Limited. When I switch to 4wd Auto and accelerate get vibration in pedal and steering wheel. Lift off the accelerator and vibration goes away. Switch back to 2wd and vibration goes away. It has to be transfer case in front. That is the only variable that changes in this entire thread. Tires aren’t out of balance, cold weather, begins during warm up, etc. all the same symptoms as everyone else. Any one have the xfer case serviced? It’s quite annoying for a high end vehicle.

I have a similar problem, but the vibrations and whining are only audible during 4WD auto, high, and low modes. There's no sound in 2WD. Metal shavings were visible in the transfer case oil. Transfer case parts are scarce in Poland. I'm leaning towards the transfer case because it's the only variable when switching modes. I have new Goodyear Eagle Touring tires. I'm including a photo of the transfer case oil.IMG_2855.JPEG

I just read all 8 pages of this. This issue is insane. I have a 2020 Classic 1500 Tradesman, 2x4. High pitched vibration right dead at 1400 RPMS. Soon as I get above 1500 or below about 1300, it goes away. Cannot reproduce in park. Only happens under load. Vibration isn’t the best description..it’s very high-pitched & creates a harmonic droning. Can hear it & feel it in the floorboard, wheel & pedal. Most passengers don’t notice it. This is what I have done:

1. Opened rear-end. No more metal than you'd expect. Backlash .09. Replaced spider gears. Replaced rear wheel bearings & seals.
2. Sent driveshaft off, got new joints, bearings & balance. Made it a little better, didn't fix it.
3. Replaced transmission with a 52k trans off eBay from a wrecked Ram. Used my old computer. Improved some, didn't fix it.
4. Bought brand new driveshaft from Mopar. No change.
5. Adjusted 2 piece shaft angles by lowering carrier bearing & buying adjustable upper control arms. No change.
6. Replaced MDS lifters with OEM Mopar lifters. Replaced camshaft, VVT sprocket, chain & added a high volume oil pump. Not MDS related. No change.
7. Mounted camera under truck in 3 different spots--looking at carrier bearing, pinion & driver motor mount. Didn't spot anything obvious. Camera did pickup a bit of the "drone" (audibly not visually) when mounted above the pinion, though.

It's worse the colder it is. Metal shrinks in the cold. If I am driving through a roundabout with a little speed going left & it hits that RPM range it is 5x worse. It goes from the cell phone buzz to something obviously isn't right. Like a whipping feeling. Hard to explain, but worse going left. Not worse going right.

The amount of work I have done to try & fix this issue is insane. The only thing left is the rear end. I see some people said front wheel bearings &, at this point, I'm not above trying anything but being RPM specific & getting worse in turns just seems like rear end to me..

It's cold as heck here right now so if it will make it through the winter like this, I'll probably just keep trucking it for now. Spring time I'll probably swap the rear end. I may try putting a driver's front wheel bearing on it between now & then but my hopes aren't high for that. Feels like it's in the driveline to me.

I got this truck with 74k. I know why they traded it in, now. Lol. If anybody has resolved this or tried rebuilding/swapping the rear end, speak up please.

Idk if anybody is reading this, or not but I’m going to keep my deal updated in case anybody does in the future.

I just finished rebuilding the rear end. New gears, new bearings. Some weird wear on the spider gears..which are only 10k miles old, so that is odd. I did not buy new spiders again, just ring and pinion. Anyway, no change. Still vibrates.

Going to attempt some redneck maneuvers this weekend with a mechanic friend of mine & take the bed liner out, get one of us in the back & feeling for it while one drives. Might even drill a hole in the bed to extend a stethoscope down in the rear end area to try & at least verify where it is coming from.

Will update if I do any more or figure it out. Please comment if you have any ideas. Thanks!

Getting in on the thread. Bone stock 21’ w/46,000 mi. Was silky smooth up until 45,000. Then the vibration started. Took it to dealer and had the tech ride with, then drive back. Said it feels normal. Checked the driveshaft supposedly and told me to get my tires rebalanced (which did nothing) Apparently nobody’s got a clue as to the problem because I was told to bring it back if it throws a DTC. The art of diagnosing without a computer is apparently gone.

It's just a step of their process. A vibration diagnosis can be daunting, are you willing to pay for every step of the way? It can take many hours and trial and error sometimes.

You can take a $100 and purchase a NVH app that will help determine a vibration for you. The dealer should have a picoscope with the NVH equipment that is amazing.

I found the problem. It turned out to be the reduction gear. The bearings were out of balance, the sprocket was out of balance, and the chain was stretched. Here's a link to the video. The BW48-11 reduction gear
