I am taking delivery of a 2012 RAM1500 Monday with the turbo 3L diesel. Looks like it's Italian made motor. Review for older ones are sketchy. Does anyone have 8nsight into latest rendition of this motor

EDIT: I'M CONFUSED, IT'S A 5TH GEN FORUM, YOU TITLE IT "NEW 1500 LIMITED" AND YOU ASK ABOUT A 2012 TRUCK????
I was talking about the new Gen of ED, Not the old one.

It's been great so far. No major issues.

And... IT'S ITALIAN!!!

42000 km so far on my truck, no mechanical issues yet.

Member "VernDiesel" got well over 300,000 miles on his original Ecodiesel engine, and last I heard his truck had something like 600,000 miles overall (not sure about the 600 k miles). Go read all of VernDiesel's posts, you'll learn a TON about how to maintain an Ecodiesel.

Sorry meant 2021
ANYWAY
thanks for your reply

The early version of this motor in the 4th Gen Rams did not have a very good track record. However, the engines were redesigned for the 5th Gens, and so far, seem to have much better reliability (although, it is still too early to tell for long-term reliability).

Just stick the recommended maintenance schedule. There’s a whole sub-forum for the EcoDiesel…I’d recommend taking a look in there and reading some of the threads.
