Upgraded from UC4 8.4 to UC5 12 but screen won't turn on

I bought a kit online that includes everything to switch from my uc4 8.4 to a uc5 12 inch screen. The upgrade initially worked and I used it in the truck for a couple of days and then I took the screen out to see if I can take the plastic trim pieces off since it didn't match my interior. After finding out you can't remove the trim, I plugged the screen back in and it's never turned on again. It flashes a back light here and there sometimes but the screen remains black at all times. All the buttons around the screen work such as climate, etc. I had the FM radio on before removing the screen and that also works along with the volume knob. I tried re-programming the vehicle and still nothing. I've done the following:

I've replaced the LVDS cable.
I've removed the negative battery post to do a reset.
I've checked the fuse #44 on the interior fuse box.
I've held the reset buttons on the screen and nothing.
I've unplugged the screen about 3 times over and over and nothing.
I've done the sleep cycle about 30 times.

Everything seems to be working but the screen will just not power on. Any ideas?

In case anyone has this issue in the future - It was the LVDS cable. I ordered one from Amazon that was identical but I guess they don't work for this unit. I suppose the cables are unit specific. I got another one made for the unit from DDOffroad and it works now.

So the cable worked initially and then it didn't?

I was thinking LVDS cable or LCD failure. These LVDS cables come in two flavors. Panasonic and Harmon cables. They aren't interchangeable as the pin out is different. One is one to on pinout on both ends. Other swaps pins 1 with 2 and 3 with 4. Glad you got it working!

The one I got that works is black on one end(goes into the module) and white on the other(goes into the screen). If that helps anyone.

Do you think a LVDS cable can be only for uconnet 5 or uconnect 4? Or it's compatible with versions?

The uc4 and uc5 lvds cables are pinned differently, and not compatible. I tried using a uc4 on mine originally and the screen would not turn on. I couldn’t locate a uc5 cable so I cut mine and resoldered the wires in the correct order and now the screen works.

Ok. I want to thank you for answer me. I appreciate the advice

I think I might be having the opposite issue. I have a uconnect4 8.4 no Navi but I bought the uconnect 4 12 in screen and module together. But I must have bought on Amazon the uconnect 5 LVDS cable. That's probably why my screen won't turn on
