Update: DO NOT BUY RAM WITH RAMBOX - Warping and Alignment Issue with 2019 Rams

Hands down I love the Ramboxes. My only biggest complaint (beyond this issue) with the Rambox is that I couldn't get it in the longer bed with this trim package here in Texas. However, playing devil's advocate, just because we all love it isn't a reason to give Ram a pass or off the hook. Some people are ok with things less than desirable condition as long as it functions and then there are some people that expect too much. I guess I fall somewhere in between. I feel like when I buy something new that it should be in new condition, aesthetically pleasing and 100% functional.

@mikeru82 is 100% correct regarding other things and that is where I find my balance. Nothing is perfect and even with Mercedes Benz (I'm a Mercedes Benz parts manager) but the manufactures should strive for it.

Until RAM fixes the issue, there will be no RAM boxes in my future. For $70K+, do I expect the cosmetics of the truck to be spot on? Absolutely! I never settle for "good" unless I'm throwing hand grenades;)
Then you'll be missing out on a really great feature. ;) Larry, can you honestly say that the cosmetics of your truck are spot on. There has to be some small issue with a door gap, a hood gap, one side of the truck sits a little higher, or at the very least, a little orange peel somewhere in the paint. Maybe our definitions of spot on are not the same. 🤷‍♂️ No mass produced vehicle is perfect. The trick is finding one that's good enough for what you're spending. And if the way something looks bothers you, then it's your choice not to buy it.

Could they do a better job with the fit/finish? Obviously yes, but I would absolutely reorder Ramboxes today. I don't expect perfection from something manmade. I did tweak my Ramboxes early on to make them fit better and have loved them since. It's one of the key reasons I chose a Ram and I use them weekly.

If Ram fixed the problem or a third party offered better lids, would I upgrade mine? Absolutely.

My advice is to put a little effort into tweaking them if you are not happy, ensure they are waterproof, and then forget all about the minor variances and use them as intended. "Perfect is the enemy of the good," and Ramboxes are good.
100%.

What I've learned from all of my reading on this forum regarding RamBox lids: LEAVE MINE ALONE. They're not perfect, but they have been pretty close for 3.5 years now.

My 2019 ramboxes have this warping/alignment issue, but I’ve learned to live with it. The function far outweighs the looks. BUT… any hope my incoming 2022 ramboxes will be somewhat better?

My 2020 had the warped lids from the beginning and they got worse after the first summer with the truck. The lids on my 2021 have hardly warped at all, even after a full Louisiana summer. Not sure if Ram changed something on the 2021 or it’s luck of the draw, but so far so good.

I wouldn’t get my hopes up. I’ve read they updated them for 2021 models but my 2021 had similar issues that my previous 2020 model.

It's an issue on all 5th gens, not just 2019's. They haven't fixed this issue yet. Even the trucks I've seen in commercials and photo ads have the issue.

It's definitely off on my '20, not by a lot, but enough that I notice it.

It sucks, but it hasn't affected the functionality of the boxes.

Having said that, I freaking love the Ram Boxes!

I'm hopeful for a fix, but it's not a flaw that would make me get rid of my truck or stop me from buying another.

Must have gotten lucky... My 21 Limited is about as close to perfect as one could get.

My '22 is pretty close to perfect as well -- glad they came with the one I got off the lot -- A pleasant addition.

I like the Ram Boxes, I read the reports about issues and opted not to get them then saw a truck with them and wondered what the fuss was. If they were on the truck I was looking for, Id have gotten it without a second though, Ram Boxes are genius and look to be extremely handy

I wanted a sprayed on liner. The Ramboxes were a part of the package on mine, now we love them... I agree with you. Mine, so far perfect... 20210719_085652.jpg20210806_095925.jpg

2019 RAM REBEL - Mine is in the shop for its 3rd time. Dealer keeps trying to fix it without success. Below is the latest email from their manager. Nice folks trying to do the right thing. Obviously no support from FCA. Sad that a 70K plus vehicle has this issue. This will drive me nuts, so more than likely will be trading it in on a GMC or Chevy. I love the truck, but I hate it when a product is not backed up by the manufacturer. Ford is not even an option. They are much worse! I had too many bad experiences with them and switched to RAM.

Note from Dealer - "WELL, THEY SENT ONE SIDE WITH THE INTERIOR LIGHTS, THE OTHER WITHOUT. THE LIGHTS ARE COMING IN TODAY. SHOULD BE DONE NO LATER THAN TOMORROW. THE OUTSIDE PANEL IS STILL WAVY. IT IS NOT THE OUTSIDE PART AND THE LID IS NEW. WE THINK IT WAS JUST POOR DESIGN AND NO MATTER WHAT WE DO THEY WILL NOT FIT RIGHT. I PUT A NEW ONE ON AND IT GOT THE SAME RESULT. EVERYTHING WORKS BETTER AND IT FITS BETTER. HOWEVER, I JUST DON’T THINK THAT WAVE IS GOING TO COME OUT."
