I have been trying (several times) to activate the Uconnect AT&T Hotspot in my 2021 RAM 1500. I go through the whole process all the way to the end, then it says there is a problem and gives me a phone # to call (which I haven't called yet).

I have a Verizon phone. Do I need an AT&T phone to be able to use the Uconnect Hotspot?

It's a you pay for hotspot through att.

I have Verizon, yes you can use your Verizon phone. you will have an att account when you set it up, but that is only for the wifi in the truck. I had unlimited data for 15 bucks a month which was great, but I wound up getting unlimited on Verizon and I no longer needed the wifi. Call the number and see what they say. it will probably be 30 bucks a month, unless they have some promo deal.

You have to call AT&T and set up your vehicle plan with them. I know it was $10+++ to add it to my AT&T account when I had them as a cell phone carrier. When I switched to T-Mobile I closed that account so I no longer have the vehicle hotspot. I don't miss it. It was unreliable at best. I just let anyone in the truck that wants internet access (iPads, etc.) connect to my phone hotspot which is 50G a month on my T-Mobile.
