Hey all, I’ve had a notion to ask this for awhile, so here goes. My truck is a 2022 Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn I ordered/bought new a little over 3 years ago.
Just can’t figure out how the radio ( listening to SiriusXM ), will sometimes have a pop up occur with the option to “switch to internet”
This will occur when I drive into a parking garage and lose the signal through the antenna. ( that’s normal ). It seems pretty random but it does work when I’m given the option. I touch the box and it will start to play my station as I drive into/through the parking garage.
What’s weird is it doesn’t always produce the prompt.
Latest example, driving into the parking, I lose the signal, I look at the radio, touch the prompt, radio plays again. Parked in the garage, a few hours later get it the truck to leave, no sound and no prompt (says “searching for signal”). As I exit the parking garage, radio resumes through the antenna. Is there a way to “force” the internet option?

I could be wrong, but I know some channels are internet based, where they are on the app and may or may not be on various head units (based on age and offerings of the specific satellite hardware in the head unit). I haven't had my Rebel long enough to see this, but I could be somewhere in my Canyon with no internet (the truck also had it's own data service) and only the standard satellite channels would work. Conversely, I have been underground where there is no satellite service, but the truck was able to pull data in from wi-fi for the internet channels (and only they would work in this situation).

Maybe our head units will also use data for the traditional channels when there is no satellite service, much like the Sirius app would do.

I have a 2020 1500 Limited and my SXM will do that as well, usually when I drive through a car wash (has to be out of satellite feed long enough to get the use internet prompt though). As to the "sometimes" getting the switch to internet prompt and sometimes not, I found that if I physically have the SXM loaded on the big Uconnect screen which shows channel, song, author etc, then it will give me the prompt to switch to internet when the truck loses the satellite feed. I also noticed it restarts the music to the beginning of the set being played so I get to hear the previous song once again. Once I get to open air and can receive the satellite feed again, I have to switch channels back and forth to get back to the live feed.

Stronbl, right that’s my experience as well. Just wondering why after 3-4 hours being parked in the garage, it doesn’t give me that option to connect to the internet when I restart and drive out of the garage.
Head scratcher, so just to maybe clear up a little, I am listening to SiriusXM through my radio ( paid subscription ). Using the media button and the entire screen is SiriusXM. At this point it is receiving the signal via the roof antenna. When that signal is blocked by the structure, that’s when I “Sometimes” get the internet option. I have an iPhone 16 Pro Max running 26.3, but I don’t think it has anything to do with it. It has occured even before when I was still on iOS 18
