Uconnect 4 Update

How does one find out what the latest firmware is for uc4 since it’ll never be shown on the website?

Supposedly 2020 would get OTA updates, but I've never gotten one. I just uodated myself. Even the Uconnect website said I was up to date even though I was two updates behind according to available revisions.

Sometimes the TSB's are available online (Usually without the update files present), or people get a copy of the TSB from a dealer and upload it to forums. You might be able to call Uconnect and inquire as well. The last 3 that people have difficulty obtaining are the 34.2, 39.9, and 40.1... You'd think that Uconnect would let them be downloadable on their website, but it seems like if you're needing to do more than 1 update, they really want you to go to a dealership to have them installed (which is unfortunate, because there's going to be a labor fee and each update can take 30-45 minutes).

I have the exact same SW version and really would like to get that update file, please?
I also have an issue with that radio frequency. I imported my 2020 Ram 1500 limited from Canada to Estonia but can not get these even number radio stations tuned. Maybe these updates will help?
 
I upgraded to 40.1 by buying the 2 usb sticks (one was firmware & one was nav) from www.navigation.com Wasn't cheap - about $150 if I recall correctly.

Send me a DM with the VIN so I can take a closer look. As for the radio frequencies, that's typically a radio module. You will need to change it out to a European radio module, and you might need to modify the blue fakra on the radio (cutting the flanges off, but not the locking tab) so the curry antenna plugs to it for GPS. Or you can get a fakra converter cable like this one. You might be able to find one on eBay, teal is what you're looking for, for neutral connection keys.

I have a 21' Limited Ecodiesel with these stats:
Software version 22.12.10
Application Version USA-SBX-12.1-PR39.92.0-20220324-PSFRM
I was able to download the 40.1 update files from the link in post 47, put the files on a USB and boot in my truck.

Upon inserting the USB I get two screens presented on the console.
First screen (which is hidden by the second screen presented) gives the message "Cannot Update Software. Software not compatible with vehicle."
Second screen gives the "New software and features are ready for your Uconnect system. ....." with the Update Now and Decline choices both available.

I closed out the second screen so I could read the first screen. Based on the verbiage in the first screen I closed it as well and did not proceed.

I would certainly welcome any input you might have on whether or not I have the correct update.

Make sure when you put the files on the USB drive you did it the way the instructions told you to.
 
hello everyone

my radio Unconnect 4 , 12" current update 39.9 but I have a problem. All the time that I start the truck my radio screen go black on and off and after about 10 minutes go all black but the A/C and the radio works fine.my question is if I need to change a part o I need a other update.

Don't think a software update will fix that

Thank you for taking time to respond to my post. I originally put the files in the root folder of the USB. This appears to be what caused the error message in the first screen. When I copied the folder "VP4R_Update" into the root folder of the USB and left all the actual files in that folder (i.e. F:\VP4R_Update\) the initial error message screen ceased, and the update loaded successfully.

I apologize for the delay! I'm glad someone else was able to assist there. For some reason the Uconnect radios are unable to read through the zipped folder, so you have to load the USB drive with the contents of the zipped folder.
 
@Dave_Infotainment Are you guys supplying radios to Dealerships for replacement? I have a 21 Ram with the 12 inch and it needs to be replaced, due to the radio not going to sleep and draining the battery after 1-2 days. Its been on order for a month now with no updates? Just curious if you know if this is accurate? Thank you in advance

sounds like a BCM thing.... is it under warrantee? if not you could have had it weeks ago for 450.

Its still under an extended warranty, which covers the issue. The dealership advised they did a test and the radio was still drawing power after the vehicle was off. Is it possible the BCM is the culprit or would that had been shown during the parasitic drain test?

Edit - Talked with the Dealership today. They advised they tested the BCM and it did not show any issues, only the radio. They will of course re-check the new radio and BCM again to confirm. Either way, I want my truck to not eat batteries. :)

Sorry about the delay, just seeing this now. We do sell replacements to dealerships, but we aren't the contracted refurbishing company they typically use. If a dealership knows that we offer replacements, we'll gladly sell replacements to them.

Are you noticing anything out of the ordinary, like the radio turning on when the vehicle is turned off overnight? Did you use a 12V accessory harness to pull power for an add-on that uses the cigar lighter? The cigar lighter has 2 fuse positions, for battery fed, and ignition. We use that harness ourselves to add many upgrades, and one upgrade in particular does pull too much power, so the customer has to reposition the fuse.

I've had some issues with the radio in the past, where I had to take it in. It would freeze or completely glitch and freeze. The dealership at the time was able to replicate it and was told from Ram to factory reset it and update the uconnect software, which they did. Unfortunately, I didn't know this was the start of the power issue.

I do not have any accessories plugged in to any outlets. So, I am hoping that replacing the radio will solve the issue. I did take a multimeter and confirm there is a large draw and it goes away when I pull the radio fuse. Until the radio comes in, I am disconnecting the negative battery terminal to ensure the battery doesn't get cooked. :(
