Unfortunately it's not as feasible like the old days. It's possible with 2wd, but if you have 4wd forget it

yea I have a 4wd and thought about regearing it if possible

The entire front diff needs to be replaced, not just the guts. I could be wrong on this, but i believe the way it's attached to the frame poses the biggest problem. If you use Google to search this site you might find a few threads on the topic, the built in search function is terrible

They weld in the front differential pinion. That’s why it can’t be replaced. it’s the whole assembly that’s removed.
