Hello everyone. Saturday July 15th Day 1 with this truck,
I had about 65 miles on the 2019 ram 1500 and backed into a parking spot at a restaurant after departing the dealership. After our meal I returned to the truck and started as I’ve done before. Then turned the gear selector from park to drive, removed my foot from the break pedal and nothing happened. Placed foot back on break pedal as normal for changing gears (drive to Park) Turned the gear selector back to park. The back again to drive, nothing happens. Let off the break pedal and lightly pressed on the gas pedal then BAM! The truck leaped forward which i had to stop or it would have caused and accident. Then drove home from the dealership about 500 miles and all was fine.

Sunday July 14th Day 2, Now with 650 miles the gear selector did the same thing twice today,, (Foot on break, rotate gear selector from Park to Drive) no movement till I apply some gas pedal then BAM! Then truck drives fine once more.

Later the same day I drove home after a trip to the grocery store (about 10 miles round trip). Arrived at my home and applied the brake, bringing the truck to a stop. Changed the gear selector from from drive to reverse. Now there’s no backup camera display. Where the backup camera was displayed on the 12” Uconnect screen is just a blue screen with a message (check surroundings). This feels like the biggest mistake I’ve made with this truck purchase. First time RAM owner and it’s not a good start.

You may have auto parking brake set to automatically engaged. You can turn this off thru the settings in the radio.

Please see this rather long and lengthy thread. Solutions are towards the end.

Update dec. 3rd had the truck back from service department after two “re” programs of the transmission. This reset the “learning”mode. Truck ran great without issue until today. On my drive home I was at 60mph on the hwy when all of a sudden the dash display and Hos starting flashing every light possible then the windshield wipers stated, then the power steering stopped working, then the transmission when to 4th gear. Lucky for me i used to drive a manual steering truck but this was much more difficult due to the hydraulics not operating (electric power steering). Not a safe way to end your day fighting to keep from drifting into other cars in traffic. Back to the service department. When does FCA take note and just replace a unsafe untrustworthy vehicle?

So far this new issue has caused the truck to once again be in “the shop” for 11 days. Got it back from the Service Tech who stated the 121 codes, yes there was 121 new codes, found were in “stored” mode and didn’t reveal any clue to what was the root cause. So here I am again with a new truck that I have no confidence in and because of that I’m not willing to use it for long trips. However this time I’m not waiting around. If FCA doesn’t take action without me going to the dealer to argue my case multiple times so they either replace the vehicle or fix the problem I’ll be forced to file a complaint with the NTSB and my States transportation safety origination. It baffles me that a battery dies after driving 20 minutes and because of this the powersteerting becomes INOP. Trying to street a vehicle when the PS fails is not easy and will likely be a bad outcome for drivers with less experience behind the wheel. This is happening in a 5 month old truck with zero aftermarket electronics installed and less than 7000 miles on it. Please go back to the lab and find the problem then fix my truck without me having to sacrafice my time helping you solve the issues with this nearly $70K product. And it would be very helpful to instruct the service department to start troubleshooting the issues beyond reading codes. I’ve provided videos of the incident and repeated the charging issue in front of the service manager.
