2021 Ram 1500 with 80000 miles has had complete trasmission failure according to the dealership. There is no way this should happen on a 3 year old truck worth that cost 47000. Dealer wants me to cough up 8700 because of the nature of the sealed transmission. Anyone have any experience with Ram Cares in dealing with this issue?

80k, out of warranty.
Someone at work had their transmission replaced due to a failed cooler dumping coolant to the tranny, cost him 6k at an independent shop.

CNA is a service contract and is NOT bumper to bumper.

I guess I dont follow? I have to pay $200 but other than that, everything is covered for 100kmiles/7 years...per my contract. Am I missing something here?

Everything is not covered. There are definitely exclusions, I also have CNA service contract. Is your backlite covered? Is your headlight housing covered? Are your brakes covered? Check and see if your restraint system is fully covered.

Price or age of vehicle really has nothing to do with anything once you are out of warranty. Not sure why people always think they need to bring up how much they paid for their trucks. We all own the same trucks, and whether they are a $35k Tradesman or a $80k limited, they are all built on the same assembly line with the same standard parts.
Sucks your transmission failed. I'd see what an independent transmission shop would quote you for repair. Dealer is almost always going to be more expensive. And no real reason to use dealer once warranty has expired.

Other than a 3 year 100,000 parts and labor warranty on the transmission, not sure.
Most transmissions offer warranties on their transmissions. If they don't Id go somewhere else.

I am fully aware that many places offer a limited warranty on a transmission replace/rebuild, are those warrantied nation wide at over 2000 locations? You made a claim that there is no reason to visit a dealer after warranty is up, based on your opinion. In fact almost all parts sold/installed at a dealer have a 2 year warranty. I just provided a fact as to why a dealer may be worth it to some.
You can buy used ones all day for under $1k. If that is something one would want to do.
You are right, it is my opinion. One thing to mention about going through a transmission shop, is they are usually rebuilt transmissions that have the common failure points addressed, most of the time, with upgraded aftermarket parts. Not just a factory replacement transmission. Hopefully one will never need to use the warranty, and in the OPs case, it failed out of warranty, so the added cost of having a warranty is moot. And the money saved with non-dealer shop would make up the difference if it fails again.

Yeah I should have been more clear, typical wear items, brakes etc, are not covered, but other items outside of that are covered within my "Automotive Preferred Care+Plus".
There are other lower tiers within CNA that might not cover some, but other than "wear" items I am covered.

B2B service contracts do not exist. I don't care if its CNA or Chrysler Maxcare. I am trying to educate not knock on you or anyone. Many people are misled by service contracts. Usually if you have a contract from a dealer it is easy to get repairs authorized.
This is obviously for after the repair. Once repaired by an reputable trans shop what is their warranty? I know in my area if the unit is rebuilt there is either a 2 year 24k mile warranty or 1 year 12k mile warranty.
Again, used can be had for CHEAP.
This is why I will buy a new one every 36,000 (bumper to bumper) miles or at least 60,000 miles (powertrain)
I'd never put a used transmission in, at least not without a shop opening it up and making sure it's good and replacing any worn parts.

You seem to think cheaper is better. Under 20k miles for less than $1000.00, no brainer for cost savings
Putting an unknown condition part in is not on par with my thinking when talking cheaper is better. Putting a known good transmission, that has, at minimum been opened up and inspected, is what I recommend. Trying to put words in my mouth isn't suiting you well.
Even a 20k mile, or less, transmission could still have been abused and damaged prior to removal
