Hello All,

Great site! I bought a 2019 RAM 1500 CLASSIC SLT CREW CAB 4X4 LONE STAR Axle ratio 3.21 on Monday. The window sticker and the Ram Vin Decoder says it has an 8–Speed Automatic 8HP70 Transmission but all of the specs I see for 2019s on the Ram site has the info for a 8–Speed Automatic 8HP75 Transmission. They also say that the GVWR for the 2019 is 7100lbs but the sticker on my door says 6900lbs. My truck was built in 1/19. But it seems like it's more in line with a 2018. How do I reconcile what is on my door sticker with the information on the Dodge site for the 2019 Ram 1500 as having a different transmission? Thank you!

Welcome aboard!

I would trust your door sticker. The Classic DS model, has the 8HP70, which has a max hp/torque limit lower than the 8HP75 that they started using on the 2019 DT all-new platform. Even those have two versions, one built in-house for Pentastar V6 trucks and one built by ZF for Hemi engined trucks.

Your truck would likely keep to the same spec's as the 2018 RAM. However, I think FCA is planning on keeping the Classics going longer, including possibly adding additional motor/tranny upgrades.

Your answer is the CLASSIC part.

A classic will not have the 7100...that is gotten with the new 6 lug axles.

So, yes, all the info for your truck will be the same as 2018, not the new numbers for the 2019 DT 5th Gen

One more question- when I am looking at things for the interior of the truck (seat covers, etc) should I look at products built for the 2018 or 2019? Or does it not matter?

You can look for 2018 or 19. BUT, the 2019 DT will not work.

Basically, you will want to buy something that says 2009-2019 Classic.

If it just says 2019, it is for the DT and is not made for the Classic.

That said, some stuff will still "fit" in some regards.

You still have a 4th Gen, not the new 5th Gen.

To be safe and sure it works...just search as a 2018.

Hope that makes sense
