Towing two UTV's?

Do you guys think towing a canam maverick and a Polaris Rzr on my 2019 ram rebel(no brake controller) is overkill? The two utvs have a combined weight of about 2800 lbs and I imagine the 25' flat bed trailer weighs about 1200 lbs or so along with a total of 4 people in the truck.I have a 2018 ram 2500 single wheel diesel but I wanted to shred the trails with the rebel. What do you guys think? I dont tow very often and I know I can get some good input here. 20200405_113603.jpg

You should be good, I've towed/hauled about 4000lbs combined towing/hauling with my Laramie and hardly knew the trailer was back there. 4 people, gear, truck and boat fully fueled. Interstate at 80MPH no problem. Tandem axel boat trailer with mechanical hydraulic brakes and all handled well.

Yea I think I will be fine too I was just concerned about not having a break controller on my rebel. Would you happen to know if its possible to add the OEM break control on my rebel?
 
Not first-hand experience, but yes, you should be able to. Do a little research on here, many have added it.
 
Our boat is on a tandem trailer which probably weighs around 5k total with a sometimes-working tongue brake and it tows just fine. You'l be good, do a a local stop and go and feel it out before you hit the road if you can - and post pics and video!!!
 
You can add the brake controller. We have lota of information here about that.

I didnt notice that when I first read it.

Most states require trailer brakes if over 2500lbs. Some less and some more.

If the trip isnt hilly you would be fine without...some hills, you will want it.
 
I want to echo the post about adding a brake controller there is a really good post in here with the OEM parts you will need to order. Along with the step by step with pictures. I added it to mines installed it with the OEM parts in about an hour took it to the dealership the next day and they programed it to my truck. All together I paid a total of $275 including OEM parts i installed and the dealership programming it for me. Good luck happy towing.

Really? Because I hauled a 4500 pound RV on the freeway and let me tell you my truck knew it was back there. I ran in 6th gear on the freeway, 65 mph at about 2300 rpm. It made me question whether I got too light of a truck and should have gone 2500. The specs say "no", but I plan to haul long distance and that engine will be working for a few days straight.

You may also want to check the specs on your trailer, cause I seriously doubt your wheel bearings and/or tires are rated for 80 mph, unless you've upgraded them. I could be wrong.

A boat & rv are 2 different animals.
 
Does the trailer even have brakes?
Yes the trailer has breaks but I was reading and it says they wont work when you dont have a controller. I always thought they had a default brake setting for when you don't have the controller
 
I Tow two RZR1000 (2 seater) every weekend on a trailer with no trailer brakes... i do have the trailer brake controller but it doesn't do anything if the trailer isn't equipped with the brakes system.

Your sig block shows you have the 3.21 axles - most likely why you noticed it. I do as well, but never pull a trailer. The more 3.92s I drive, I kinda wish I had (just for the SPORT mode) :)

I do have the 3.21, but it just means I drive one gear lower than those who have the 3.92. On highway, a 3.21 in 6th is pretty much exact final gear ratio as 3.92 in 7th (I posted a chart showing the numbers in several different threads), same rpm's, same torque etc. I didn't "have trouble" pulling it, especially off the line where the 3.92 has the most advantage. I would just never make the claim that "it didn't know it was back there" on the highway.

Yes I've owned both 3:21 and 3.92 and tow a 24 ft boat, big difference with the 3:92. Like @NJC1684 said, also big difference between boat and travel trailer.

You will be just fine with the rebel. Looks like you have bags also (y)
