Tow Capacity Confusion

I had this worry and looked at many posts when I bought my 2021 Ram a couple weeks ago. Any of the Ram 1500s should tow under 5k no problem. When you get to more weight like 7,000 pounds you don't really want the 3:21 or v6. I ended up with 5.7, 3:92, tow package, tow group with trailer steering etc. I added sumo springs to back for extra even though my trucks door says I can tow 11,440(think thats correct or within a 100 pounds) and cargo around 1780. I tow a 7k maybe a little over 7k primetime 26 foot with weight distribution hitch. With small trailers under 4,000 pounds I used a husky single sway control(cost like $85) in my old single axle 3600 vibe trailer and worked great for 8 years.

Agree with most all of above except the gearing. Doesn't make that much difference down low.
I've had both sets of gears and frankly couldn't discern any difference when towing smaller trailers. The 8 speed and hemi didn't seem to care at all.
OP has in his signature an e-tq with 3.92's and a BH trim, so he has more payload than most, plus the et and gears.

I used to be a member of the "get a bigger truck" for towing most any TT that's a double axle, due to height/width/length and the slides, but his TT doesn't appear to have that issue. Course', most TT peeps move up in size over time, just seems to happen. That's when the 6.4 2500 is nice.
