are there any known tonneau covers that work with the trucks that have the MFT without removing the braces? i reached out to Bak and they said the braces would have to be removed to install their product.

Try Gator brand. I got a hard, folding, locking cover. Awesome quality and fit

I have been running into this as well...

There are a couple of other threads addressing this.

#2 Here

I did order and receive an Undercover, I would have had to make more modifications to the bed than I was willing to.

I have been in contact with Diamondback on a weekly basis. I have asked to be called each Friday with an update on the status of their products as they have been waiting for a test mule local to them in the NE. Apparently they were able to test about two weeks ago and had to make additional changes to it, from what I was told they would be test fitting again this week. I expect an update later today if I get one I will update this thread.

I wonder if the cover provides enough support for the braces to be safely removed.

I have been wondering the same. Why is the bracing necessary on the MFT and is it necessary with a cover?

It might be valuable to post how far from the front of the bed the braces extend back. My Tonnopro hardfold has 12" from the bed front to the edge of the clamp.

I’m also looking at getting a cover but I’m. It sure what’s gonna fit with my MFT...185FD0B8-CCB0-4682-8E72-39943E544178.jpeg899B0B19-5A93-4E01-9067-7B58A6A529D6.jpeg78940C0F-530D-435C-8204-9757E7C7B629.jpeg

I'm in the process of ordering some steel countertop braces to substitute. Basically , 2" wide x 3/8" thick, bent to a right angle, 11" on each side to replace the factory corner braces.Capture.PNG

definitely looks like it will work. My question is why is it even necessary. What about the MF makes a brace required.

I'm gonna guess that the brace is to offset the weight the panel opening barn-door-style puts on the sidewall of the bed. If you drop the tail normally, all the weight is on the bottom/corder of the bed where that hinge is located. The barn door hinge is also on the top side and adds weight to the topside of the side bed wall, pulling it down/inwards.

I received an email from Diamondback covers this morning. The SE version is now compatible with the MFT. I placed my order, spendy but I think it will be worth it.

If you have questions I have been given permission to share an email address and phone number - Jordan Smith [email protected] 814.273.8427

Do you have rambox option as well?

The diamondback is a heavier and bulkier cover that doesn’t open all the way right?

I acquired brackets of 3/8" steel from Pete at rightonbrackets.com, drilled them to match the factory brackets, and installed a retrax pro mx cover. Fit like a glove. The new brackets appear stronger than the factory bolts that secure them and the steel part of the bed they are fastened to. I ordered them from Pete at Rightonbracket.com undrilled. ( they are 11" on each side and 2 1/2" wide) then drilled them myself after templating from the factory brackets. Here's a template.
I took a picture with the cannister IMG_5237.jpgIMG_5281.jpg, but the brackets are covered upIMG_5275.jpg

Great job. I am expecting my 2020 Ram 1500 5'7 bed with mft next week . Should I assume that there is plenty of room for these brackets with the retrax canister? Do you still use the same screws from the original brackets?
