Tonneau Cover Replacement (recommendations needed)

I have a Retrax as well. Nothing wrong with it (well, actually I did have a problem but Retrax was very good about addresssing it). It's a great cover, but the canister that holds the rolled up cover takes up a lot of room in the bed. Just keep that in mind.

Bak Revolver X4

I have one on my 2017 F150. Loved it for the first year or so, but it has weathered so bad. The finish looks horrible, the rubber seals are drying out, and the webbing on the underside all fell off. Still works fine but looks bad. It is so bad that when I was trying to decide what to put in the new Ram, the wife actually said “just don’t get another one like the Ford. it looks awful”

If you aren’t looking for one that is easily removable, look at the UnderCover Elite series. I had an Elite LX and loved it. So secure, perfectly water tight, and looked great painted to match. It isn’t hard to remove, just a two person job.

Have the roll-n-lock E series on the Ram and very happy with it so far. Will see how it ages.

I really want the Retrax with the T-rails but I have the ram boxes & MFT and I’ve heard issues with water leaking and/or the ram boxes not opening all the way without causing some minor issues.
seems hit or miss?
I would really like to keep the bed dry

I went through the decision process for quit a while driving with a "temporary" Extang Black Max. I was pretty well informed of the various models and pros and cons.
I finally decided on a DiamondBack HD, it opens from the front and back and is secured with 4 bolts. It doesn't flip but each cover can be removed and the center taken off via the 4 bolts.
I consider it the most secure. The company is great to deal with. It is not cheap but either are the tools I am protecting from theft.
I am a long term owner (still have my 2001 Dodge Ram 1500) and do not see a future need to replace this cover, another advantage.
My story is almost identical ... tried Extang Solid Fold but was disappointed with security and water tightness. Went to Diamondback. Unbelievably better and a huge step up. It is expensive and it's not low profile, but I sort of like the look. Completely water tight and very, very secure. It's another option to consider.

Ooh, fancy! It’s not up in the EGR site yet. How much is it?
$2,800. Steep, but the quality of this thing is amazing. No water has gotten into my bed yet. Since I'm planning on having my truck for a while, I think it's a rather solid investment.

I too had been watching the Rolltrac since I had seen their advertisements on it. I reached out to the Detroit office since I live 40 miles away... and they were the ones who installed it for me.

That’s the same price as a Retrax PowertraxPro XR, which this is comparable to. So pricey, but competitive.

I put a Retrax ONE on my 2022 Bighorn and have been very pleased with it. The retractable cover is really nice but you do need to be aware of stuff rolling around in the back so that it doesn't bang the cover housing around. It's not a high maintenance thing, just something to be aware of when you load cargo.
