Ticking noise, 6000 Miles Hemi.

Had a new perspective this week on the mds. I’m a toolmaker and build all sorts of machinery, as well as hotrods, and race cars. I live in flatland, so eco only comes on below about 1700rpm. But went to the mountains and noticed that it would helpfully downshift, but rev to about 3500 rpm in eco. Can’t imagine that crap rattling that fast would be good for it. Wonder if that might be a indicator of those that go bad so early? Just passed 82k miles. A replacement for me may be a 6.4 without mds, and a little love and reflash.

Revving that high does not sound right. I live in the flatland's of southern MD and any time I give her gas the eco turns off. Driven up in Virginia "mountains" and the eco stayed off for most of the time IIRC.

Sorry I didn’t make that clear; it was dragging off throttle downhill. Sounded like a Subaru.😜 Honestly, I was surprised at both the downshifting and eco dragging that high.

I had the impression that a non etorque engine could not replace it, due to all the electronics that is controlled by the etourque?

The last word of the post is key - reflash (reprogram). MDS is mechanically separate from etorque, and you will remember MDS has been around 10+ years?, with etorque replacing the alternator since ‘19?
