Greetings,
I just joined the RAM world with a new-to-me 2019 RAM 1500 4x4. It has 36k miles on it and in remarkably clean condition.
I searched high and low to find one with both the crew cab and a 6'4" box. Only one dealer in my area was ordering them in this configuration and they weren't working well with me over the phone, not to mention missing a few key options I wanted, so when I found this nicely equipped truck I went with it. I feel pretty fortunately that this truck has pretty much everything I wanted to order with the exception of the color and it doesn't have the 33gal fuel tank. Minus those two compromises, it has the step bars for my short wife and kids, bed utility and tow packages for truckin', and I really wanted the Big Horn 2 for the creature comforts and remote start. The granite gray color is still pretty nice and I suppose I can live with "only" 400 miles of range...
I come from a GM family and after my second Chevy truck I decided I was ready for a new set of problems and the value that RAM is currently offering in the 5th gen is quite nice. I'm a vehicle engineer and even just looking under the hood, I'm impressed with the equipment layout, cable routing, connector choices, etc. I'm really enjoying the new truck.
As it's new-to-me, I'm learning about all of the common problems and how to get ahead of them. I still have 2 years left on my powertrain warranty so time to make friends at the dealer to get the early signs of the exhaust tick taken care of (barely perceptible right now but I can hear it).
I'm probably going to get the Krown rust treatment on it soon to weather these Illinois winters better. Both of my Chevies had significant rust problems which I'm looking to avoid.
Also pictured it's an alpine mountain goat horn keychain I picked up in Germany back in 2010. Seemed appropriate to pair it with the RAM fob.
