The other vehicle option

Oh gotcha, you mean the 3rd row seating itself. I was talking about the cargo space behind that 3rd row. Most of the people we'll stick back there will be kids, they should be alright.

In case we actually use it as an 8-seater, we want enough cargo for everyone's overnight bags.
We do lots of road trips. My eldest is almost as tall as I am and she likes the 3rd row. As well, it works better for us to keep the younger ones closer to us in the second row. It's easier to manage snacks and a$$-whooping when needed.

I'm gonna get a rooftop box for those longer trips, or we can fold down half of the 3rd row.

We use my truck for everything. I prefer it because I like to drive and don’t feel comfortable being my wife’s passenger. LOL. She drives her Beetle like it’s a Ferrari. We don’t have kids at home anymore and my wife just uses her car for appointments and groceries. She said she’ll never get rid of her VW convertible. It’s a 2013, mint with only 42k miles on it. We haven’t had to spend a dime on it other than regular maintenance and tires since we bought it.

The gap in the middle is a must with younger kids. Our kids are older now and can manage to manipulate the second row on their own.

We decided to go for 8 seats as it is 6 of us. The family fills the Ram and only leaves one extra seat with the previous 7-seater. It's a logistical nightmare when the grandparents fly in.
The 8 seater option on our Grand Wagoneer was a huge selling point, there is 5 of us and our kids are always taking their freinds. Also the GW makes good use of the 2nd row bench with each seat being able to adjust and recline, really slick!

That said, when my kids were smaller, captain seats are a must!

My wife has a blue 2019 Expedition Limited with the 3.5EB. Really no complaints, though we had to take it in for cam phasers a few months ago. Luckily under warranty. It's more of our long distance family vehicle since it has the third row seat and we have 3 boys. Keeps them from killing each other on long rides lol.

She tried to talk me into taking it instead of getting the Ram, then she would get something smaller like a Tesla. It has nicer options than my Ram, but I just couldn't do it and had been wanting a new half ton. Considered an F150, but didn't really like the bouncy ride with the leaf springs and wanted to get the last V8 I will likely ever have now that the EPA is killing them off.

The 3.5's have cam phaser issues too??

What's the mileage on your expedition?

Yup, needed a cam phaser replacement. It would make an awful sound on startup when cold. I have a video link somewhere. Definitely a good thing to happen while you still have the warranty. They have to remove the body to replace it. I told my wife that if it wasn't under warranty and happened again, might be time to trade it in.

Completely understand. And honestly with just the 4 of us, we don't really use the 3rd row much. We use it more for the cargo room (seats folded down). The only thing I really don't love about it, is with the third row up and being used, the cargo space is smaller than some car trunks ha.
