This was just like the car I drove in high school except mine had dark tinted windows

I've convinced my wife that we definitely need a truck in a family by accidently rising my hand on a public car auction and buying this 2012 Nissan Frontier for ~$7K. Great mechanical conditions, but super dirty inside and all scratched outside (yes, public use trucks take a beating, but at least they change oil regularly and keep the service records).

Switching to 2020 Rebel after this one was like travelling from 2000 to 2020 in a time machine.

First car in high school was a 1990 Chevy Corsica. No pics of it, but honestly, why would anyone take pics of a 90s sedan? Gross.

Saved up through college, and my junior year (2003) bought a 1997 Dodge Dakota on ebay for $5,000. Had the 5.2L magnum, 4x4, I thought I was cool stuff! Tinkered like crazy with that truck, really learned what (and what not!) to do under the hood. Drove it to Montana after college, had my first date with my future wife in the bed, and generally just beat the hell out of it. I miss that truck....

Not a great picture but in the same picture are the only two vehicles I regret getting rid of. This is a 1970 Cutlass supreme convertible I had. It had numbers matching transmission and he gave me the numbers matching engine with it but it wasn’t in the car at the time. It had a different rocket 350 in it that was completely worn out, I barely got it home. I pulled that engine and put in another donor rocket 350 I found on Craigslist just so I could drive it while I had the original engine rebuilt. So I swapped motors in it 3 times. Sold it because I wanted to get one that wasn’t numbers matching so I could drop a big block in it.

behind it was my 2014 Ram Outdoorsman. Wish I would have never sold that either View attachment 102779
Man, that was a badass car especially in convertible form. I would regret selling that too...

Dakota was such a great sized truck. When I upsized into the Titan I really wanted something a little smaller and seriously considered the Dakota. But a guy who knew things told me Dodge was going to discontinue it in a couple of years, so I skipped it. He was right but a little off on the timeline.

When I sold the yellow truck like a fool I decided not to sell the Red 99...so I still have the 99 2500 a 03 2500 and a 99 Ram van
My younger brother had a big yellow truck just like that one on some ridiculous big tires. I'm 5'10" and he's shorter than me and I had to leap up in there like a big rig. It had these huge holes in the floorboards so you could watch the road go by. It was so tall you could sit up underneath the truck!

2017 Chevrolet SS Sport Sedan (née Holden Commodore SS-V Redline) and 1976 Cosworth Vega #2196.

Crap, I looked at a Cosworth Vega on a dealers lot to buy several years ago....maybe more than several. It was brand new. One of the cool cars I've considered buying over the years that got away. Best I remember, it was over a year old and they were having trouble giving it away. My goodness how times change...
And how time flies. Enjoy those cars....won't be long before ICE vehicles are gone!

I had a 2019 Wrangler before my Ram. I liked it a lot and miss it but all in all the Ram is a better fit for my needs.

2014 Harley Road King. I had to quit riding a couple of years ago due to a bad knee. I miss riding every day.

CVs should be far more collectible than they actually are, given the uniqueness of the engine and their sweet handling, but I guess folks still can't get past the Vega name. :p The reality is that most of Vega's problems (engine, rust) were corrected by around 1975 or so (by when they were as reliable and durable as most other 'Big Three' offerings and many imports).

Had the CV not been so substantially detuned (the prototypes were making ~170HP [gross], production units made 110HP [net]), it would have mopped the floor with the competition, both domestic and imported. Hobbled as it was, it still won Road Test magazine’s October 1976 ‘Great Supercoupe Shootout’ when put up against an Alfa Romeo Alfetta GT, Mazda Cosmo, Lancia Beta and Saab EMS.

CV #3037 recently sold for $48,000, but it only had 39 miles on the odometer and is a true time capsule car. Mine cost a touch over $8K, which is typical for a driver-quality CV.

It was a bucket-list car for me - I only owned it about 18 months, and sold it just before I retired. It was an absolute hoot to autocross!

2001 Silverado 2500HD - First truck, LS extended cab long bed with the 6.0L V8. No pics on this computer, will have to update when I finally get some uploaded. Was a good truck, just was too big for commuting around campus in college. Traded in on my mom's SUV in '03 with 32,000 miles.

2004 Silverado 1500 LS- Bought new and sold with 251,000 miles. 5.3L V8 with lots of mods. I miss the truck, but with that mileage it was starting to have electrical issues and wasn't enjoying it like I used too. Probably should have kept it as a project truck.
20150108_075203.jpg

2015 Silverado 1500 LT - Used the cash from the 04 to buy this truck new. 5.3L V8 with cosmetic mods and exhaust. GM engineering has gone downhill from when they built my 04, had a lot of the typical K2 generation issues, plus ate an AC compressor while out of warranty. Loved the looks of the truck but decided I didn't want to deal with any more headaches. Traded in on the Ram with 40,000 miles.

2001 Corvette - Still own it, bit of a project car working to get it back to showroom condition. Was my dad's car I inherited when he passed in '03. Will never sell it.

This is my 1957 Chevy 3200 with the 235ci straight six. 90% original, runs and drives great. My boys love taking it around town to get ice cream occasionally.

Upvote for the straight six! Beautiful photo, too.

This was my first truck - learned to drive in it, then bought it from my Dad when we moved to the farm. It was in the family about 42 years. 240 straight six FTW!
