thought the same thing too.. i really want to get one but the gold just doesnt look right to meI know the Laramie's have a slightly gold trim piece around the radio. IMO it looks out of place with the rest of the interior, especially on the darker Laramie interiors
This would be an easy as hell change. That piece likely pops right off, and could be replaced with a Limited/Longhorn/Sport insert. Talk to your local Parts Department about it.View attachment 2786 heres a better pic
Yes - all Longhorn trim is satin nickel (which is a lot warmer color than chrome or stainless)Hard to see your pic, but there are different trim colors on different trim levels. Limited gets shiny silver with black dots all over it around the center display and vents. Longhorn gets a more muted brushed silver. Not sure on the other trims.
There is also a light difference in the metal trim used. It's most apparent when comparing key fobs since they match. The Limited looks more silver and the Longhorn was silver with a slight gold tint to it as I recall.

PUKE.I replaced my radio bezel because of a crack in the wood. Retail was something like $1,400
Yeah probably going to have to a) buy the limited trim pieces b) have it wrapped.. maybe piano black or a brushed aluminumthought the same thing too.. i really want to get one but the gold just doesnt look right to me

Well, that's how I describe it. The Ram website states that the Longhorn has "satin gloss warm chrome accents". That's a bit confusing, since satin and gloss are not the same thing, and chrome is not 'warm'. It looks like satin nickel to me. Here's an image comparing stainless to brushed and polished nickel (shamelessly borrowed from Delta Faucets). Satin nickel would fall between 'brushed' and 'polished'. You can see that nickel is a 'warmer' finish than stainless, and nothing like chrome. Honestly, it was the first thing I noticed at the auto show. I was impressed that A) so much of the trim is actually metal, and B) that it wasn't chrome or even stainless, but actually nickel (a more expensive finish).Man, is that what I have? I've been calling it bronze. Isn't satin nickel a duller silver? I've purchased satin nickel hardware for my bathrooms and it's a duller silver. All I know is ....I absolutely freaking love my longhorn trim!!!
There's also cheap nickel (e.g. brushed stainless) hardware and 'real' nickel, which has much more color depth (and is much more expensive).Man, is that what I have? I've been calling it bronze. Put me down as another person who dislikes the bronze contrast. As I sat in the Laramie I pondered what I would have to do to swap that bronze plastic trim piece out with a simple matte black one like I think the BigHorn or Tradesman has. For the record I prefer the matte surround of the non-nav display to the piano black gloss NAV surround too.View attachment 2786 heres a better pic
Harrumph @BobbiBigWheels ! I agree this SHOULD be a totally easy and super cheap mod. Think your service guys would entertain the question of ordering just the plastic surround piece from a Tradesman, separated from the switches and AC outlets? Or is the $1400 “solution” that @warmachine got (under warranty phew!) going to represent the only option to the Ram service technician/manager? Were I that service manager I think it would have been in Ram’s best interests to find a simpler cheaper option to replace a cracked plastic trim piece! This would be an easy as hell change.
