The support is appreciated, but today is about the ones we've lost along the way. Please don't take that to be a downer on the thread, or to cast shade.
I'm just hoping that in addition to thinking of those active and retired, that everyone also takes the time to remember the fallen. Pay respect to the loss their families endure daily as a result of that service/sacrifice.
Today we honor and remember our brothers/sisters who aren't able to be with their families and friends. The father, the daughter, the best friend that paid the ultimate price so that we can all enjoy the freedoms of this great nation.
A simple sign of support anyone can do. Grab a pack (ruck, backpack, weighted vest, anything), and maybe even a flag. Strap on some comfy shoes, and
Carry The Load in honor of someone. Someone you lost, someone from your community, or a friend of a friend. You can do it for free, and any distance you want. It's just a way to pay homage and remember the sacrifice.
You don't have to have a name on your pack, but this guy makes it very clear who he's carrying.
