How would a guy make this tailgate lighting stay on any time the headlights are on? I think it looks cool.

I’m sure it could be tied into the taillights somehow. You would just have to take it all apart and see.

I would much rather an illuminated emblem but I couldn't find a decent looking one.
Maybe you could tap it into your trailer hookup with like a T tap.
I wonder how it would look at night with a red LED installed on aa all black one.

Yeah I guess the wiring goes into the harness behind the bumper so the trailer wiring is probably right there also. I may tinker with this one Saturday when I'm bored.

You can also use something like this to "tap" into your trailer wiring without actually going into any of the wires and keeping your hookups OEM.
Can just splice in after the split for the wire that goes to regular lights.

Reese had an illuminated tailgate emblem a few years ago, but it was a short-lived product. Not too sure why-it was nice, but subtle.

I know I have some some illuminated stuff form Reese and they always got very bad reviews.
I saw an illuminated trailer hitch insert that used a halogen bulb and would actually melt the insert itself and fall out.

I bought this replacement emblem and I have two red 10mm LEDs installed
with a "Breathing" Circuit to make them fade in and out with the Brakes. I will
be tapping into the trailer Brake circuit of the Harness.

My TAG is BLKGHST. I have a 2021 Laramie Black with Night Edition.
I also have to mount my Nathan K5LA Airchimes and On Board Air System.

I bought a Curt Extension to tap into that and leave the stock wiring alone.
Make sure to use a waterproof connector with the wiring to the light. Just
in case you need to remove the tailgate for some reason. The brown wire
is the running light positive and the White is the negative.

This is the one I purchased:

curt 56584 - 5 pin

vs

56070 - 7 wires

56070 gives you more options. You will have a positive wire if you want to add something. I hooked up LEDs behind my bed utility rails with that wire.

Has anybody figured out yet how to install a Tailgate lighter on a 2021 Rebel? Everyone I ask (including custom truck shops) say that it can't be done properly because of the uneven space under the tailgate.

I got a 1" Aluminum C channel that I can modify to fix the unevenness. I still have to install it though. I am using an Arduino
Nano to drive the Addressable LED strip to provide Animation to the lights. Tapping into the Trailer Circuits.
