I am chasing noises all over the place and all are very hard to recreate sitting still...I just had clunking and noise from my upper control arms now i am thinking i need to replace my sway bar end links and bushings. I figure its easier to do all at once
That's a good idea...some of the noises I hear seem to be right under the cab. I'll check it outAre you sure it's the suspension? Some have traced the clunking to worn cab mounts. I believe mine has this problem - clunks a lot when wet or cold weather.
Thanks Sascwatch..I hope I don't have to go that deep with only 74,000 miles (all highway) ..Front sway bar is super easy to remove completely to do a quick test run.
I drive logging roads 7 months of the year and rather than replace sway bar bushings multiple times each summer I completely remove the front sway bar and end links.
I have had sway bar end links, bushings, lower control arms, inner and outer tie rods, front CV axles and front differential replaced due to clunking noises. Some parts were replaced multiple times over the last 4 years.
The upper control arms and ball joints are factory, and for a plastic suspension component wearing a thin metal jacket it’s quite impressive.
