Starter replacement?

Has anyone replaced a starter in their 5th gen yet? I went to work on it today and cannot for the life of me figure out how to get the protective plate off. It's much longer and more complicated than the 4th gen ( of course).

Don't take it off, I have replaced a few of them. Its a pain but you work around it. Engineering fail on that bracket.

long extension and a 15mm chrome socket.

Take a look at this one. I just did mine around 3k miles ago following this. Definitely extensions and knuckle swivels.
