I just bought my used 2020 dodge ram1500 Big Horn/Lone Star about three years ago. I hadn't had any trouble, then a few months ago I went out to eat and came out after I started with the start/stop on the key fob and when I got to the truck it was running rough. On the instrument cluster it showed an A in a circle and the check engine light was on, also said start/stop was unavailable service needed. So I ended up taking it back to the dealership where I purchased it. They fixed it so I thought??? They told me that the injector on cylinder #3 was clogged so they told me that they cleaned it and did a den or fuel rail cleaning also. It was not under the warranty so I ended up paying because it wasn't a faulty part. So I get the truck back and it was fine for three months and it did it again!! So of course I make another appointment with the dealership and as I am talking with the service manager we are talking about what was going on. So I get my work order from the last time I was there and he indicated that they changed #3 injector and I told him that that was not on my service ticket he's response was oh yeah we just cleaned it and den or fuel rail. Of course this time the code was for the #4 cylinder totally different side of the motor. I asked if this was going to happen every three months. So my appointment was four days out so I didn't drive it at all that week. I had a doctors appt. the same day so I am driving and the truck of course was running rough like it did before. I came out of the doctors office and got in the truck and started it up and it was running fine no rough idle just the check engine. Of course I haven't used the key fob to start the truck lately because this is where it all started by using the key fob to start the truck. So of course I went to the dealership and talked to service manager and told him what had happened. So he said I could leave it with them and they would look at it. I made the decision not to leave it because I'm sure the would have charged me to clear the code. So I asked if there was a way to clear the check engine light and he told me that after a few starts and driving around that as long as it saw no more codes that it would reset it self. So I had to try the key fob and as soon as I did about three seconds it shut right off and the check engine light was still on. Of course it never went a way so of course I did what some say would not work to get rid of the check engine light . I disconnected the positive cable off the battery and walked away for about 5 minutes came back and put it back on the battery. The check engine light was gone and I closed the door and backed up and used the key fob to start the truck and it ran fine. A few days later the A with the circle came back and I haven't used the key fob to start the truck lately.
I did find out that it could be an electrical short or interruption it the electrical current not being enough or being to low. I'm so mad I buy a newer truck and have these issues already I only have 44,000 miles on it and this is ********. just wanted to buy a new dependable truck. I also have a 2006 1500 ram with 275,000 miles on her and never had this kind of trouble. I love my new truck but sure dose leave a bad taste in my mouth and confidence if it will leave me stranded or will she always be at the dealership being fixed.
is there anyone else out there that has had this happen to them please let me know this should not be happening withe these new trucks!!!!!
