Sport Hood Bezel Replacement - Chrome to Black

Went from chrome to black badges by replacing the entire hood bezel on my 2020 1500 Laramie Sport. I purchased an OEM bezel from my local dodge dealer all in for $145 (March '22). Likely not the least expensive route, maybe not the easiest, but it's the one I felt was best for me and my OCD. The pics are in order of how I did it (full disclosure...I'm a Sunday mechanic using Harbor Freight trim tools, without autobody experience, so those on here who actually know what they are doing may want to cover your eyes...). Those little blue plastic clips on the bottom of the bezel look innocent, but they are strong as !#!?!. Most of those clips broke (see carnage in pic), but the original bezel survived. With new clips, the original bezel could be reused. Hope this helps someone.

Nice work. I wanted to do that on my last truck but didn't have the guts to attack it like you did. My method ended up being a lot more expensive, but much less risk of doing damage to anything except my wallet. Here's a pic of my method ...

Nice to know it can be done. Mine is all black and still in like new condition. I imagine it will fade and get crappy over time and drive me nuts later. I will have to keep this in mind.

I actually found a seller on EBay that has OEM blacked out emblems only. A dealership in Hurst, TX.

It has a 6” Pro Comp lift with Fox shocks, 35x12.5 BFG K02 tires, 20x10 -18mm off set Fuel wheels.

i have mine at home (all black with the etorque in blue) ill be installing in a few weeks

why not replace just the emblem portion?

for 3 reasons

1- the emblem by theme self are not available from mopar, you can only buy use one on ebay or replica

2- its faster to change the bezel vs changing 2 emblems

3- its same price about, if the emblem were available, they would cost between 60 to 80$ each, the bezel is about 120 to 130$
