Over the past few weeks the speedometer and infotainment screen in my 19 Ram will randomly dim in the middle of the day. Sometimes it's fast like it's flashing and other times it will dim and stay dark for 30 seconds or longer.

Would this be an indication of the sensor going bad?

That's interesting, it could be, next time it dims turn the gauge/center screen light slider all the way up to the top past the lock, don't worry it doesn't affect maps lights, see if it holds the brightness if you do that.

I've done that and it still does it. That's what makes me think something is up with the sensor. It's weird cause just flickers randomly.

If the slider is locked to max, I mean past the stop and you feel it click and hold, it shouldn't loose brightness for any reason, including when it gets dark and the sensor adjust it down.

It maybe something else if that's the case, a buggy sensor should have no effect on the interior gauge light brightness if locked in max brightness.
