Spare tire is new but already worn.

I was under my truck yesterday when I noticed the spare tire had significantly less tread depth than a new tire but still had the little rubber thorns on it so it could have not been worn. I am assuming this is due to some weight savings as well as not messing up the 4 wheel drive system by have tires that are significantly different in curcumfrance? I don't know. Any thoughts? I just find it odd as I have never seen a full size spare that had less tread depth than a new tire.

That's what they come with. The wheel doesn't match, either. It's cost-saving more than anything else.

Its actually just a temporary tire (donut as some people call it)

What trim is your truck?
Mine came with a spare that matches (both wheel and tire).

The offroad package gives you a full size spare, otherwise you get the donut. No need for full tread on a temporary tire.
