Only had the truck for a week, and in a moment of indiscretion and having faith in basic human decency, I parked at a grocery store next to some Honda or Kia $hitbox CUV. Was only in the store for 5 minutes and as I come out sure enough I find a dent from a slammed door on the front of the RAM's rear door bulge and the offending vehicle gone. Nothing prominent, and can probably be easily fixed with paintless repair, just disappointing how little some people care about other people's property.

Now I will be looking to install a pair of rock sliders to double as steps on the RAM - it's very satisfying to find car paint on the steel rock slides on my JKU Wrangler. Would appreciate it if someone could recommend a brand that would fit a non-Rebel RAM 1500 Sport Crew Cab.

Iarmor makes an aluminum set that I had on my ‘18 and just put a set on my moms ‘20. They’re on my lost of things to buy for mine. One of the reasons I like them is lighter weight and they actually use all three mounting points instead of just front and rear like most boards do.

I just installed the Go Rhino D6. Three mounting points, high and tight against the body. Note these are not true rock sliders (most arent), but they are sturdy. IMG_20200627_131824730_HDR.jpgWhite Knuckle Off Road makes a true rock slider.

Hogzfan and Fatherof3 pretty much covered it. Those high and tight steps that stick out a bit will protect from some door dings, assuming they are cars or lower riding CUVs.

But you want true rock rails, White knuckle is a great choice.

I’m sure he said ROCK SLIDERS ‍♂ Any way. The only ones I have seen are white Knuckle and if you have the large tank you out of luck as they allegedly don’t care about that part of their business. They have been asked for months and don’t seem to want to supply with brackets that will work with large tanks

Thanks a lot for the replies, everyone - much appreciated.

Question about Go Rhino D6 - do they stick out past the widest bulge/crease on the doors (the one with RAM lettering underneath)? Due to the bulging shape of RAM's body I wanna make sure the steps will stick out far enough to prevent door contact.

Also, has anyone had any experience with Aries Rocker Steps

Thanks

Yes, they are outside of the body, maybe 1".

Sorry to hear about it, i got door dent the day after i purchased the car, costed me $70 to fix it and 2 more after 2-3 month later. That's why i always deploy my running board whenever i park now.

That is literally why I always park really far. I had some guy open his door carelessly while I was inside and he didn't even say sorry... he just stared at me. So when he left I chewed about 5 sticks of gum and place them behind his door handle. I'm sure he'll be more cautious from now on.

Nice move, i'm doing the same, park the car far away(wife hated it) by myself and when i'm come out, some @ss park next to me :mad::mad:

Just ordered a set of Go Rhino Dominator D6 steps (D64306T), 2-3 week delivery - looking forward to it.

On a less happy side of things, it seems as though the ding in the door isn't fixable without drilling a hole through the side of the door, something that I am not willing to do to a brand new truck. So I may end up having to leave it as a reminder not to park next to a-holes.

Check with another PDR guy. My guy uses a suction puller on the outside for dings he can't get from the inside.

I asked two different companies - same answer, they said suction puller cannot be used due to the dent being on a body crease

If I have to park where there's any chance of some careless driver hitting me I raise to OR2 and deploy the step. So far so good.
