Hey all. Read all the TSBs. None seem to apply to this issue. When I reverse or even go forward slowly and allow the truck to creep under its own power. It feels like it’s chugging slightly. No indicator lights etc. doesn’t seem to do it every time. Quite annoying. Just wanted to probe here before I waste my time at dealer for them to say “ could not replicate the issue”. Thanks

Mine does this sometimes if it has been sitting for a couple days or so. It goes away after about a minute or two after the truck is started. I swear its because I go so easy on the throttle all the time that the computer learn causes it (I like to watch my ECO light stay on). On the very few days this happens I floor it out on the open road to exercise it a bit.

Thanks. Mine seems to do it only after sitting overnight. I go easy on it too. Weird indeed

Mine does that all the time. feels like the torque convertor is giving up the ghost...

Well crap. I was thinking it was the trans too. Did you have it looked at

I've noticed that sometimes when letting the truck amble along at idle RPMs (whether 5 mph in a parking garage or 15 mph in traffic) it "surges". The RPMs would not hold steady despite no throttle input from me.

I had the dealer flash the latest TCM PCM updates and the issue seems to have gone away. Not sure if those symptoms are the same as what you have.

Thanks. Is there a flash for the non e torque?

I lied. Pulled up the service records and they flashed PCM with "TSB 18-076-18" - which I thought was a typo for 18-077-18. I'll ask to make sure there's not a 076, because 077 deals with eTorque as well.

Is your RAM an E torque? And did the flash work?

I do not have the eTorque. Turns out there is in fact a TSB # 18-076-18. Its uploaded into the TSB thread now & is a PCM flash for non-eTorque engines. I have not noticed the same issue of surging after getting the flash done.

Cool. My appointment isn’t until Jan 15. So I will go armed with this info.

Flashed mine for the PCM 18-076-18 and TCM 21-0 something...….we will see if it helps at all

Not going forward, but when I'm on the brakes reversing slowly and within park sensor range of an obstacle, it chugs. I always assumed it was the computer braking, not a transmission issue.

Hi 2019ramshortbedcrewcabguy,
We're sorry to see that you're experiencing this. We suggest having your dealer address this concern. You may also send us a private message if you would like any additional assistance with this process. We're always happy to help!

I hope you are correct. Dealer said they found nothing wrong with truck. But updated to the latest PCM flash

Well. Had my appointment on the 15th where dealer checked and updated pcm to the 076 TSB. still does it. Tug/chugs under light throttle while accelerating seems worst in 4th gear oddly. RAM better not make me regret getting rid of my Honda. Now I have to deal with the dealer ******** and general inconvenience

Mine does it every night when i leave work. I idle across our lot and it lunges like it is deciding if it should stay in first or go to second and gets confused surging back and forth

Mine does this when it's cold or has been sitting for a while. Forward and backward. Goes away after I drive a short distance. Brand new truck with 500 miles.

Mine surges like this as well any time the engine/trans has cooled down. It's not the transmission jumping from 1st to 2nd, it's the rpms jumping up and down.

I have an alley so I carefully drive through it and it does this all the time, also leaving the parking garage at work. Super annoying.

When the transmission has warmed up it's fine.
