Hey Guys,

I have a 2019 1500 Limited w/Air. Has anyone added a sled deck to theirs? Did the Airbags compensate well for the added weight? How did it look?
Having a hard time finding info on the forum so maybe this'll have future value to some.

Best,
Ryan L.

You're likely going to be over payload. 500lb sled wet x 2 + sled deck + gear.

You'd def need stiffer springs+ air bags + LT tires to even be safe, yet still illegal.

Sled decks belong on 3/4 tons minimum.

I run a single Limitless sled deck on mine, modified with bunks for hauling standup Jetskis and the airbags compensate fine. As mentioned above, you ain't hauling 2 sleds legally on a 1500 so I have to assume we are only discussing a single sled.
The heaviest loads I've hauled were 24 sheets of 8' x5/8" drywall and I think it was 17 sheets of 23/32" OSB. The OSB threw an air system code but the truck handled it just fine.
I'm right on or slightly over the edge of the trucks rating on both these loads but the suspension levelled and the truck handled it just fine.

My concern is the overhang. I couldn't imagine hauling a long track on a 5' 7" bed, even it if was a 2500.

Yes and yes, I run a 8' deck with the 6'4" bed.

The airbags work well, and 95% of the time I haul just one sled on it. One feature I really like is the ability to drop the truck into exit/entry mode when parked on an incline as it drops the rear of the truck to make the loading angle less steep.

It looks great, and you get used to it: there's no way to get around the overhang unless you get an 8' box.

Last weekend in Colorado I saw a Tacoma crew cab shortened hauling a sled in the bed. I kid you not, easily 65% of the sled was hanging out in space beyond the tailgate.

I don’t know the weight distribution on a sled but he musta had the front tied down something fierce.
