Nothing beats OEM. I bought the stainless steel (should last a loooooong time) Ram p.n. 82215300AB "wheel-to-wheel stainless steel side steps", look great with chrome clad wheels, mounting brackets are integral with the side steps (no cheesy sliding-bolts) and extremely sturdy.
They are pretty close to the body, took me a little time to figure out how to get in/out but now my arthritic old body loves them.
Pricey yes but might as well spend the money now before the government takes it away.

No side steps is the best looking option, but not the best solution. The power side steps are the best solution because they are virtually invisible and they keep people from tearing up your thresholds and seat bolsters.

Mine is lifted but you can see the Westins don't hang too low. You have a lot of choices with the crew cab, not so much with the quad.
