I currently own a 2020 F250 Lariat Screw 4x4 6.7l diesel with 16,000 miles. A local dealer wants my truck. My truck's Murphy was $69,300. The Ram dealer is giving my $70,000. on trade in. I picked out a 2021 Screw Laramie with an MSRP of $58,500. He has me at $53,800. out the door. I wasn't really in the market but with him offering $70,000. on mine he got my attention. There is only $1,000. in incentives. The Ram will get worse gas mileage but gas is cheaper so it's a wash. Maintenance is cheaper on the 5.7l Hemi too. It would save my $200. a month on payments. I'm live my truck but trading it in during this inflated used car market might make sense. I tow a 4,000lb bass boat so the Ram is capable and has the etorque and 3:92 gears. Should I keep the diesel or jump on the Ram deal? I drive 20-25,000 miles a year. Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Check vroom,carvana, car max and get any estimated quote and figure out of that $70k is around the same as what those other companies will offer you.used car prices are high right now but u still wouldn’t leave to much money in the table m.
-Your trading in a 2500 and going to a 1500 (coil spring set up in the ram) so it’ll be more of a comfortable ride and if that’s all your towing and you don’t need the additional payload you get with the 2500 I say do it but some like to have more truck then they need.
-Build a Laramie online and see what your must have specs are and compare it to the one on the lot and make sure that’s what you want don’t settle and I think they can do better on the price but that’s up to you to decide.

I would wait 5 - 10 years for them to get the kinks out of it.
So he is giving you $70k on your truck, the MSRP of the new one is $58,500, and OTD is $53,800. Trade-in price on your truck is good but the question is what is he selling the new one for. What price is he giving you (Invoice or better)? how much do you owe on your current truck? numbers help in this situation if it makes sense and if your getting a good deal.
I just did something similar. Sold my 20 Raptor because the resale is through the roof right now. I had it for 14 months put 20K miles on it, paid $72, sold it for $68,500. I will miss it, but I prefer the Ram. Do it if you like the Ram, if you prefer the other then consider yourself lucky for having bought it early and not when prices are so high. Life is to short, drive what makes you happy.
$69,300. was the MSRP of my F250. I bought it at invoice which was around $64,000. and I had a Ford private cash offer for $3,000.
If you do not need the towing capacity of the F-250, and like the comfort of the Ram 1/2 ton, I'd do it.
If you will be towing 7-8k lbs regularly (or more), I'd stick with the F-250. If the boat is the extent of your towing, the F-250 is overkill.
As others suggested, research trade-ins on your truck, especially cash offers from the various car-buying places. If they are on par with them, I'd work on dealer with the price of the new truck a bit, as while that is a fair price, its not great. Either that or try and talk them up even more on trade.
If you have decent credit and can find a Big Horn with lots of options, its almost the same as the Laramie (or possibly the same), and they are offering 0% for 72 months right now for financing.
I went with a different truck. It's a 2021 Ram 1500 4x4 with every option but the moonroof. It even has the 19 speaker Harmon Kardon. stereo. MSRP was $61, 700. I ended up at $56900. out the door and 0% financing thru Chrysler.

People keep saying you can option a big Horn to be a Laramie, and that's simply not true. There are several things you get with the Laramie that you can't get on the BH.

Please don’t take this the wrong way but don’t call a Ram Crew Cab a Screw. This coming from a former F-150 Screw Owner. We have Crews and Quads over here not Screw and Scabs

As far as selling, compare your dealer offer of $70k to Edmunds (which does stuff with CARMAX), Carvana, Vroom (Never sell to them tho), Carfax, and KBB (specifically the instant cash offer). From there you’ll have a general ballpark of what your truck is actually worth compared to the market as of today.

I feel like I went from driving a chuck wagon to driving a Cadillac. The coil springs make a huge difference. Now I just need to pick out a lift kit and tires.
