Hi All,

First time coming back to something that isn't awd in a while.

I was reading the manual and couldn't find much about this...

Can we shift on the fly from 2WD to 4WD? Are there any speed restrictions?

Can we shift from 4WD A to 4WD high on the fly? Any speed restrictions?

Thanks for the help!

There should be a procedure in manual, yes you can shift them from one to another on the fly but good way to do it is let off gas pedal right before you click the button to switch.

There is speed restriction when you switch to 4LO.

4 low. you have to stop, shift to neutral, shift to 4 low and then into drive. Same to get out of 4 low.

The rest are on the fly, push button and away you go. Being able to hit 4 auto in a really wet road or muddy road is simply great.

The nice thing about the newer 4x4 trucks is that the system won't let the transfer case shift unless all the requirements have been met for shifting into 4x4 HI or LO. The system is basically dummy proof which makes it almost impossible for guys like me to break stuff ;). Snapshot below is directly from the manual.

As I recall (which this information IS in the manual).... 4W HIGH is under 40mph and 4W LO is under 10mph.

I only remember seeing speed restrictions for the locker if equipped. I know there is speed restrictions for the truck to engage 4WD but I don't see them listed in the manual anywhere . I've def shifted into 4HI going faster than 40mph.

Thanks everyone. I couldn't find anything in the manual about 4A and 4H, just 4L. Except for the backhanded explanation that it won't shift unless conditions are met, but it didn't really explain those well, IMO.

The video is clear and make sense.
