Curious if others have experienced the overly sensitive parking sensors. They’ve caused violent braking on several occasions when I wasn’t even near any structures. The first few times was startling. It definitely gets your attention. I searched, but there is no way to adjust the sensitivity. It’s either on or off. I ultimately turned them off.

My truck does not like my sloped driveway, does not like backing into my street at all. I have to turn them off to keep from having my truck stop itself when no one on my street is awake but me and the pup at 5:30am. Started parking in the street so I don't have a morning where I forget to turn the back sensors off. And as others have noted, I really hate that the front sensors freak out when I'm trying to back into a slot in the parking garage at the office and the closest obstacle is 6 feet away. :(

Not sure how you turned them off, but in case you didn't know, you can turn off the auto braking feature, but keep the sensors and warnings on. Don't turn off by the front dash toggle switch, but go into the options menu in the center screen, just unclick the the auto brake feature. You at least have the rear radar and warnings.

The issue is the auto brake sometimes engages at elevations and angles on the street, especially slopes on driveways as mentioned above.

Here's how to do it, instruction starts at 1min 40 secs in case you didn't know....

^^^ Good to know. Thx

Absolutely, it has happened to me a couple of times, but not enough yet for me to turn it off (yet), because it has saved me a couple of times as well.

I was going to make a quick video to show the process, luckily I found that one on YouTube easily.

Thanks for the info on turning off the auto-stop but not the alerts. I'm going to keep the auto-stop on, because my Mercedes was able to stop the car faster than I could and saved someone from serious injury in a parking lot last year. No way I could have reacted that fast. Stupid people wearing dark clothing at night running from the gym to their car. :( I'll just live with needing to remember to turn it off every now and then.

Old post, but I just bought a 21 Ram 1500. Was backing up in my sloped driveway and it slammed on the brakes, scared the crap out of me, was violent. Now I am paranoid to enable the sensors.

The sensor can be a real PITA however I leave them activated. I have a better idea, after owning for 6+ years, when to turn to them off in certain scenarios/terrain, but still get slammed on occasion.

The sensor saved me from running over an elderly man who decided to walk behind my Ram when I was backing up. It would have been a bad situation.
