Security bypass cable question (of course for AlphaOBD)

Hi - I ordered this bypass cable off Amazon:

Do I unplug the current cables connected to the security gateway module and leave this new one plugged in all the time? Or do I only plug this in when I'm making changes with AlphaOBD and once done, reconnect the OEM cables?

Also - I probably should have checked around some, the one I ordered was just based on some Amazon reviews that indicated others used it on current 1500s - anyone used this particular cable?

That is the same cable that I use.

I have always unplugged the cables from the security gateway and plugged them into this cable each time I was making a change. Then you plug your reader into the port this cable created.

I do put the plugs back to the original configuration when I have finished. I mostly do this because I don't want things dangling into the foot well.
