So here are pictures of my RF Hub that is getting replaced due to water intrusion via a back window trim crack/leak.

My question is why not seal the new one with a bead of silicone or the like to prevent water from ever getting in the new one? I am replacing the window but in case the new window leaks. Now that won't prevent water from getting into the connecting cables which are also being replaced. Unless you guys can recommend how to seal up an electrical connector. The case just easily pops apart so it looks like that might work as a preventative measure. FYI the new window being done by Safelite comes with a lifetime warranty on defects and leaks. Also covers consequential damage if it does leak (like the RF Hub). FYI the hub is covered by auto insurance, but not the window. The window replacement cost is $930 by Safelite.

Also when they are done with it if I disconnect the connectors and take it out to do the seal job will it just continue to work after I reconnect it?

What do you guys think?

They make sealant for electronics. I don't think it will be necessary. I had mine replaced and have not have any issues. And if they give a lifetime warranty, then it's not necessary. You can remove it and reinstall it without issue.

I am also thinking more for others who have done the permatex thing and not replaced the window. They may want to seal the container like I am talking about.

Water runs down. Maybe just seal the upper part of the box. Zip tape maybe? :ROFLMAO:

It's a bad idea to completely seal an electronic module like this. They need to vent due to condensation caused by temperature. If you are out of warranty then my suggestion would be to get a can of that FlexSeal stuff and spray the surfaces exposed to gravity-induced water intrusion and leave the bottom unsealed.
