Scuffs - how to deal with these?

I've got a whole 1,000 miles on the truck and my wife pointed out there are some pretty nasty scuffs on the passenger side. Both to the paint, and to the plastic panel underneath.

I'm the only one who'd driven the truck, and have zero memory of touching anything or rubbing into anything - we're speculating someone brushed into me in a parking lot maybe? I feel like I'd remember if it was me, on my brand new truck

The marks on the paint look like they could be removed easily enough, but the plastic panel underneath is not going to clean up. I've never done this before - should I engage insurance? Call a body shop? Buy a specific product from Autozone and DIY it #D9E0F2 ?

I'm on the same boat as you...
This is definitely a broke a$$hole that hit you and didn't want to pay for it. Same thing happened to me, I just have a chrome bumper and I have a pretty big dent in it, I have to replace the whole thing...
Do not use insurance!!!!!! This is a $200-300 fix and with deductible, premium and accident report, you'll pay way more than $1000 for this crap...
Take to a reputable local body shop and get a quote, and go from there...
Kinda hard to see but the top of the bumper is pushed in very bad... I hate it when I look at it and I also don't want to spend a grand right now 😥

If you do take it in to get an estimate, make sure you let them know it won't be an insurance claim. You might get a lower estimate if they know you'll be paying for it out of pocket.

As far as the air dam goes, I'd give you the one I took off my truck if you want to come get it. It's too big for me to feel comfortable trying to deal with shipping it.

A decent detailer should be able to get rid of this where you will have a hard time seeing it.
I don't see a location on your signature. I would help you with this if you're near Houston. Just takes some wet sanding and polishing.

I had the *exact* same problem on mine with less than 1k on the clock. Scuffed paint, scratched plastics. Same situation, I'm pretty certain I'd have noticed if it was me, so I can only assume it was a parking lot kiss.

I took mine to a local body shop who basically said he'd have to replace the whole bumper to get it perfect, and made it pretty clear he thought I was being silly for wanting to fix it - "it's a truck, it'll happen" was his attitude.

I never did shop around though.

If it's just a scuff and not through the paint then try Scratch Out.

I had a scuff on the front of my truck (<300 miles). Right over the passenger side fog lamp, two scrapes going sideways. A few minutes with Scratch Out and it was gone.
