That looks like some of the trucks here on the Florida coast, those guys launch their boats And dunk the whole bed in the salt water
This is the worst one I’ve ever seen. Definitely some sort of rust proofing is wise in the salty regions. I’m in southern Ontario. Known and Rust Check are quite popular here.

Not only those parts. Taking mine into the dealership tomorrow to have the chrome exhaust tips replaced due to rust (truck is at 10,000 miles and I have had it for 7 months). Wasn't a bad winter here in Missouri so I think they went cheap on the chrome.

wow that is horrible. Positive point is RAM 1500's in the U.S. come with a 3yr/unlimited mile warranty for corrosion on all panels and exterior panels like the ones shown come with a 5 yr/100,000 mile warranty.
2.2 Corrosion Warranty A. Who Is Covered? You are covered if you are a purchaser for use of the vehicle. B. What’s Covered This warranty covers the cost of all parts and labor needed to repair or replace any sheet metal panels that get holes from rust or other corrosion. If a hole occurs because of something other than corrosion, this warranty does not apply. Cosmetic or surface corrosion — resulting, for example, from stone chips or scratches in the paint — is not covered. For more details on what isn’t covered by this warranty, see 3.5. C. How Long It Lasts The Corrosion Warranty starts when your Basic Limited Warranty begins under 2.1 E. This warranty has two time-and-mileage limits: • For sheet metal panels, the limit is 36 months, with no mileage limit. • For an outer-body sheet metal panel — one that is finish-painted and that someone can see when walking around the vehicle — the limits are five years or unlimited miles on the odometer, whichever occurs first. D. What’s Not Covered Please note that while the standard Corrosion Limited Warranty applies to defects in material and/or workmanship, it does not cover the vehicle’s matte finish appearance (if equipped). Maintaining the matte finish appearance is solely the responsibility of the vehicle owner as described in your Owner’s Information.

Ever since I purchased my 2019 Ram, I've been noticing other late model Rams with rusted fender wells, tailgates and door bottoms. Is this what I can expect for my truck? Is this an ongoing issue with Ram trucks?
I feel your pain Nick54. I, myself, is a new Ram owner, @ 2 weeks, and pretty disappointed with the stuff I’m finding under and inside my Ram...RUST! I hate it! I started Fluid Filming rusty components every chance I get, but some are inaccessible. Did the nuts and bolts that hold the door hinges, the hardwares on the mini, and under the bench rear seats, suspension components, and a lot more! Can you confirm if you’re finding the same? Thank you.

POR 15, look it up on Amazon and the internet for undercoating. Its a messy DYI, but works well.
I've use POR15 on a restoration of a 1959 Chevy truck. I painted the frame with the stuff. It likes surface rust, not clean metal. Secondly do not get it on your skin, it will not come off with gasoline, thinner, hand cleaner...it has to wear off. My bald head looked like I had a rare disease until the POR15 wore off. Good stuff for its purpose.

I just finished with the clay bar and sealing the paint with Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant and just bought the Woolwax Pro Undercoating Gun. Fluid Film is a little thinner than Woolwax, so using Fluid Film in all the doors and panels. Going to use the thicker Woolwax for the undercarriage, because it will be tougher to wash off. Getting a good jump on this truck, rust will have to attack a different truck. lol

Fluid film is a solid option for undercarriage rust but I think it is important to tackle rust before it happens by using a rust prevention spray. I also think it is essential to understand which kind of rust you are dealing with which I learned from this guide.

...and more. Does anybody know the name of those mushroom-looking parts? Thanks. Btw, I don’t think I’m being anal about this topic, or am I? It’s a brand new truck, with less than 1k miles.

When you see some rust on a 4th gen Ram, keep in mind that unless you check it out personally, it could be 14 years old.

Cold and salty roads is actually a season around here. All truck makes seem to have a problem with the rear wheel arches rusting, usually as a first sign. Tailgates usually follow. GMs have a reputation for rotting cab mounts, cab corners and on older gens, the frames would perforate badly. Pre-aluminum Fords had the same problem with cab and bed mounts, doors and rockers. Third gen Rams would rot at the rear cab corners.

Haven't seen too many rusty 4th gen Rams...yet, and when I do its never in the rockers.

I noticed that on DTs Ram has opened up the flush-outs at the bottom of the front fenders. That was a trap area on 4th gens especially for leaves, pine needles and such. I flush that area at least once a year with a garden hose.

The only area that I think is still susceptible is the space between the outer edge of the rear wheel arch and the rear wheel housing. Its covered on trucks with wheel well liners, but if you look at a truck without liners you will see what I mean.

All-in-all, around here Rams of the last two generations seem to hold their own.

Regards,
Dusty

The items in your pictures are uncoated or unpainted steels. The first picture is the top of the threaded shock absorber mounting shaft. The third picture is the mounting flange for U-joint on the driveshaft. The remaining pictures are of the sway bar links. The sway bar links probably had a light oxide coating originally, but those and the other items are generally not painted and not critical to rust.

Best regards,
Dusty

I've had the grave misfortune of having to crawl underneath the dash of a lot of cars and I've seen the rust on support brackets before. Yours seem to be a little most rusty for a fairly new vehicle, but I've seen worse and never seen one be a problem. Manufacturers generally don't coat mild steel parts.
