I need advice guys. I’m 6’6” and about 360lbs. What running boards will work best. Wife doesn’t want drop style. And no chrome. Does anyone have success with any they have purchased? And from where can I get them?

I just had the dealer install some on mine. It was just chrome, they had the black ones but I wanted chrome because I have the chrome on my truck. I’m 255, I’ve stood on it while a rear seat passenger was on it too. So it was two people on one side and it didn’t even bend. You should be fine with regular ones. They hold a good bit

I only weigh 245 & 5'10" but I have stood on mine with an 80lb bag of concrete in my hands and didn't feel anything budge. Mine are black and stationary, can't remember brand but I got them from RealTruck. I can look it up if you like them.

I’m thinking of spraying some bed liner on it, chrome steps get too scratched up. Plus I live in Massachusetts. So slick surface + snow/ice = fast way to the ground lol

I’ve been going thru the same issue trying to find the sturdiest, but it seems they all mount the same to the rocker panels. This leaves me to looking for good beefy brackets and a quality bar. Oddly enough the Mopar wheel to wheel only has 2 mounting points when all the rest have 3. Doh!

I have the factory RAM side steps on my Bighorn crew cab and they are great. I’m 5’ 10” / about 230 lbs and they feel very solid. Here’s a pic of mine and a link to some others from Mopar. The highest year u can select is 2019 but there should be no difference to 2020 models. 40FCF23C-BEC8-41AF-96CC-8AF986336635.jpeg

Really great options everyone thank you. Makes me feel a lot more comfortable ordering some now. I’m thinking I may go for the mopar ones tbh.

I have the OEM ones in Chrome, which I had the black ones but they are sturdy enough. I think the limiting factor is the rocker panels, I worry how much wait they can take, would rather have Frame mounted units but I have not scene those in a long time.

I'm running the Mopar off road one's, their not cheap. There's a company that makes a similar version for a lot cheaper but I can't think of their name. Maybe someone can chime in with the company's name.

6'2" and 320. Westin Pro Traxx 4" - 3 mounting points and have been solid. They also come in black - I got the chrome because they match the truck trim.59598274112__83D03D22-0838-4358-8CC8-624331BD9275.JPG

Westin Pro Traxx 5” for me. I’m 6’4” and they are wide enough to get a good footing with my size 14 steel toes.

After the level and larger tires the ole lady made me get some running boards. Went with the rough country hd2’s. I like the look and how adjustable they are. It they do have a very little amount of flex. And the hardware isn’t all that great attaching the boards to the brackets. Too many points of failure in my opinion. Overall they look pretty good and function . .

Do these protrude over the external tire line? I just bought a 2020 Ram 1500 Lone Star. Excited!

Tyger Auto makes a set that are similar but they have been out of stock for crew cabs for like 2 months. Go Rhino also makes some that are in between the Mopar and Tyger.
